Berlin is ‘hypocritical and dishonest’ on anti-Semitism, Jewish newspaper claims

Germany’s leading Jewish newspaper has fired sharp criticism at the capital city, arguing that Berlin is failing to take a strong enough stance against anti-Semitic activist groups.

The Jüdische Allgemeine Zeitung (JAZ) published the strongly-worded article on Wednesday after several artists dropped out of a music festival currently being held in the capital when they found out that it was being backed by the Israeli embassy.

The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, which seeks to isolate Israel internationally, put “massive pressure” on artists to withdraw from the Pop-Kultur festival due to a €500 donation from the Israeli embassy, JAZ reports.

Writer Philipp Peyman Engel accused the city’s government of remaining largely silent on the issue, a stance that he argued was symptomatic of a weak approach to anti-Semitism in the capital. …

Maybe if they had some statues or plaques in everybody's view to remind them, every day, of the horrors of their past, history might not have to repeat itself. They're enabling an invasion of people who want to slaughter anyone who doesn't accept the ideology they're bringing with them. Will the next holocaust be Muslims slaughtering Europeans or Europeans slaughtering Muslims?

I honestly don't know how people got so deranged.( Maybe it's the opioids and other poisons, legal or illegal). Without those plainly visible artifacts to our past, admirable or not, evil will fill the gap in cultural memory. It always does.

I was reading an article from May on the same website. Now I had not seen this a few months ago, but the following paragraphs are eye-openers:

During the First World War, German officials created a newspaper called “El Dschihad” (Jihad) to encourage Muslim soldiers from other countries to fight their “holy war”, according to the German Historical Museum in Berlin.

The newspaper — published in various languages — was distributed to front line areas, within German prison camps, as well as in places under French, English or Russian reign where Muslims lived.

Even the first mosque constructed in Germany was a part of this strategy, allowing prisoners to practice their religion, and then to teach them about the holy war in order to convince them to fight alongside Germany against the Allies. …
