A sheriff has a sworn duty, as the highest law enforcement official in a county, to enforce the law, with the primary purpose of protecting the safety and well-being of county residents/citizens.

Joe did just that - and was repeatedly re-elected to said office because he was not afraid to do his job.

A court barfed up an insane anti-law ruling, so Joe found a bit of a way around said ruling so he could continue to do his SWORN duty. So he is convicted by a court of, basically, doing his job.

Our nation has literally lost it’s collective mind.

Not a Court - a Judge.

Joe was arrested and tried for a misdemeanor so the Judge could - technically - refuse Him (Joe) a jury trial.

The Judge turned down every request for a jury trial, heard the evidence and found Him guilty.

That’s not a ‘Court’ in the way I have known it...(Gramps was a Judge for 37 years, and many of my relatives have been/are lawyers on e a state SC Justice).
