President Trump apparently has no plans to pardon "America's toughest sheriff" Joe Arpaio at his campaign-style rally Tuesday night in Phoenix.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Air Force One that there would be no discussion of a pardon and no action taken on that front at any point on Tuesday.
Trump himself recently told Fox News that he was seriously considering a pardon for the former Maricopa County, Ariz., lawman.
I might do it right away, maybe early this week, Trump told Fox News on Aug. 13. I am seriously thinking about it.
When the presidents campaign announced the Phoenix rally days later, it touched off immediate speculation that the event could be the venue to announce the presidents first pardon.

He will. But quietly.
Hmmm....
While it would be exciting, it wouldn’t be the right place nor time.
Hopefully that’s the reason.
Any pardon would be published quickly. There wouldn’t be much in the way of “quiet” to it. And Trump has never particularly been one to do things quietly.
Trump pretty much has to wait for the appeal. Joe has a good chance.
Sentencing is Oct 5.
Would be nice though.
Well, that’s true, but he IS getting a lot of things done behind the scenes without a lot of fanfare.
We shall see! :)
They’ll let the appeal process play out first. More non-news static to add to the narrative de jour.

I would think if there is any jail time or a fine the President would Pardon him. The paper work is most likely already done. Just needs a signature.
Agreed. A pardon is a serious matter no matter how well deserved.
I agree. Like what was he going to do stand up and announce this at a rally of thousands? Yikes. I know POTUS is unconventional but that would be a bad idea.
He’ll wait, but do it. No need to announce it ahead of time.
And it’s much better for the Courts to correct their own errors. Pardon is a last resort when they won’t (or can’t).
This
It’s a precarious position at the moment. If Trump pardons Sheriff Joe, the press will paper Trump with every scurrilous racist charge ever leveled against Joe.
Trump needs to attack from a different quarter. He’s not so good at defense. Once they’re off balance, he can reengage.
I love Trump, but he cannot crap on the people that brung him to the dance.
I have been crazy about Trump for being good to his friends and the folks that voted for him.
I am starting to see him stray. Linseed and McCain got what they want. So far, Trump voters have been cheated.
Agreed, President Trump needs to reassure his base that they have not been abandoned after Brannon’s departure......so far it hasn’t been encouraging.
“Trump will not pardon Arpaio at Phoenix rally”
Rallies are not occasions to issue pardons.
Thought they were going to wait for the process to play out.
What kind of a reporter would ask if a pardon would happen at a rally?
