Following the collision between the USS John S. McCain with an oil tanker on August 21, several experts in cyber security and satellite navigation systems have raised the possibility that there might have been cyber interference with the ships satellite navigation system. The experts suspicions were increased by the fact that the John S. McCain was the fourth collision involving a ship of the Seventh Fleet this year. The others occurred on January 31, when the guided missile cruiser USS Antietam ran aground off the coast of Japan; on May 9, when another cruiser, the USS Lake Champlain, was struck by a South Korean fishing vessel; and on June 17, when the destroyer USS Fitzgerald collided with a container ship, resulting in the deaths of seven sailors.

Were Chinese given classified information on how to hack US Navy ships?
Does hacking include their eyeballs?
No one in the govt is saying a word. Curious.
Navigation is one thing.
Deck seamanship is another, and is more than adequate to prevent things like this.
I don’t know who benefits from this “hacking” narrative, but don’t fall for it.
satellite navigation systems
China!
The McCain was T-boned in the middle of its port side. This means it was moving right to left from the striking ship. In this situation, the McCain HAS THE RIGHT-OF-WAY. Even though a naval destroyer is likely much more maneuverable than a container ship, and should have moved out of the way, it is quite possible that the fault lies with the striking ship.
The “hacking” scam see to have worked to cover up Hillary’s failures and another ramp-up in the deep state cold war on Russia and Trump
Why not try it again?
A headline that I saw read, "U.S. warship rams tanker".
But the picture that I saw shows the McCain with a big bash in her side, so it appears to me that the other ship crashed into the McCain, not the other way around.
“the picture that I saw shows the McCain with a big bash in her side, so it appears to me that the other ship crashed into the McCain, not the other way around.”
You are correct.
I should have been more specific.
Thanks for the catch.
A brief search of the net shows that both the US and China have developed some electronic mines that have several sensors that can identify a particular ship and target that ship and deploy several electronic countermeasures to harass or misdirect or even destroy the ship with explosives. The US Navy has a base in Mississippi to train their mine warfare crews in the maintenance and use of these mines. No doubt the ships based at Yokohama are being studied by the Chinese and selected for destruction.
I would not be surprised to find out that China, Russia or North Korea, most likely North Korea were responsible for the two naval ship accidents or even a long shot Iran.
Anyone who believes this crap believes there’s contrails that are somehow going to change something in a very profound way.
And is dumb as a post, or willfully ignorant.
what time of day was it
That raises the central issue. Was any such hacking or other combination of actions so pervasive that the crew was helpless? No effective "all stop" mechanism available? Etc.
If so, that it would be very concerning is an understatement.
Act of war if so.
That still doesn’t explain the lack of eyes on the horizon.
Oh please. There is just as much evidence that Obama officers were having fun in their quarters and neglecting their duties
That was a heck of a shot by the tanker. The McCain can probably do 40 knots and the tanker 15-20. The McCain is 550’ at 25 knots it is doing 40 feet per second that mean you have less that 15 seconds to line up your shot. If visibility is at least a mile the tanker takes 3 minutes to travel that mile.
Somehow NO ONE was actually looking at 1000’ foot vessel heading their way. Amazing!
