Buchanan has always been rather a pacifist. Particularly, from his horrifying perch under Nxon counting 55,000 American sons dead in Viet Nam, and it fell to the communists anyway.
He also had the close up view of the South Vietnamese begging and clamoring in Saigon for evacuation, as we left flew off and left them to their destiny.
Personally, I give him slack.
Yet today we hear talk of upping and extending the U.S. troop presence in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, of confronting Iran, of sending anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons to Ukraine to battle pro-Russia rebels in the east.
There are no pro-Russian rebels in the east of Ukraine. They are PUTIN's GREEN MEN trying to carve up Ukraine, or go further west. That is full blown Russian military Pat!!!!!

All the more reason for him to support President Trump for not cutting and running like Nixon did. Vietnam isn’t in any way analogous to the ME. There wasn’t any justification for Vietnam as they didn’t represent a direct threat to this country. You can “cut Pat some slack” if you choose, but I won’t! BTW I lost a cousin in Vietnam, so what happened there had a direct impact on my life.
