I watched a partial outside a local library where they handed out solar glasses. Sky didn't really get noticeably darker, even during the peak here, where the Moon covered the Sun by about 80%.

However, through the glasses, and at times when a thick cloud passed when you could see it without the glasses, it was incredible. Looked a lot like this below through the dark solar glasses...

Check out the series of sunspots. Sun was more active at the time. I think it was near a solar maximum.

That’s interesting. The sun was covered to the tune of about 83 percent where I was, and I noticed the difference well before maximum coverage. My home was darker, too, and that was with the sun coming through the skylights.
