I am not sure the gray hair would be a problem for the Confederate side, after all they really used up as many able-bodied men of whatever age they could get their hands on but the beer guts are a serious issue.

Seeing so-called Confederate soldiers, an army of bare-foot, half-starved scarecrows for the most part depicted as plump, well-dressed men in spotless uniforms and full kit just makes it ridiculous looking.
