Former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (D.) said California Sen. Kamala Harris (D.) will be "knocking on doors in Iowa," indicating Saturday he expects she will run for president.
Villaraigosa, who is running for Governor of California in 2018, was asked by MSNBC host Hugh Hewitt about Harris, a newly elected senator considered a rising star in the Democratic Party. Hewitt predicted she would be the nominee for the Democrats in 2020.
"Has she got a stake in this governor's race?" Hewitt asked.
"Well, not yet," Villaraigosa said. "I hope she will support my candidacy, but as you say, she is a great candidate. She's going to be knocking on doors in Iowa, I expect. But in any case, I'm focused on this race, not the presidential race."
Iowa refers to the Iowa caucuses, the first major nominating event in presidential election cycles. Barack Obama scored a shocking victory in Iowa in 2008 en route to his successful run for the Democratic nomination and eventually the presidency.
Harris met last month with some of Hillary Clinton's largest donors in the Hamptons, and one fundraiser said anonymously she is planning to run.
"She's running for president. Take it to the bank," one fundraiser said in July. "She's absolutely going to run."

If Kam does run, I suspect part of her stage persona will be showing that she is the ‘Un-Trump’, unlike him in almost every way. The calm, lethal force of Angela Merkel, to contrast with the conflict, turmoil and upheaval of the Trump era.
Unmentioned will be the facts that the media and the petty resisters are a big part of why the Trump era has been full of conflict, turmoil and upheaval.
EPA, OSHA, Planned Parenthood, Muslim Brotherhood, Bureau of Land Management and Immigration , and
various redundant government groups will RETURN to their former inglorious positions of influence. It will be as though The Kenyan was back in town, but this time, wearing a skirt.

If they dems have an all-star and trump’s numbers are up, they will hold their all star till after his second term. If they think he can’t win (as they did last year) they may run her. She is testing the water but that doesn’t mean she will run in 2020.

Karamela actually ruins the race for Biden. He’ll have to take her on his ticket as VP as the losing-primary progressive; and NO WAY will Trump’s states allow her as lady-in-waiting behind a 112-year-old Slow Joe...
A couple of close runner-up slots before a clear 2nd in Cali gets sheboon the booby prize; meanwhile the MSM covers up - as they did before Cankles denouement - Karamela runs for shit in every single Trump state.
