Comparing How the Media Portrays Trump and Obama on Magazine Covers

One is depicted as a 'bully,' the other as 'a new hope' and 'cool'

Donald Trump and Barack Obama have appeared on countless magazine covers during their tenures in the White House, but there is a difference in how the two presidents have been portrayed.

The media has tended to depict Obama in a noticeably more positive light than Trump on magazine covers, characterizing the current president as angry, "lazy," and a "bully," and his predecessor as "cool," "a new hope," and even a superhero.

An analysis conducted by the conservative Media Research Center found that in Trump's first 100 days in office, 89 percent of all ABC, CBS, and NBC evening news coverage was overwhelmingly negative.

A report published by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy found that press coverage of Trump during the first 100 days of his presidency "set a new standard for negativity."

The same report stated that while modern day journalists as a whole are perceived as having a liberal bias, "their real bias is a preference for the negative." Of the past four presidents, only Obama "received favorable coverage during his first 100 days," the report noted.

The stark difference in how the media portrays Trump and Obama is reflected in the negative magazine cover portrayals of the current president.

Especially when those Trump covers are contrasted with Obama's own front page portrayals (even on the covers of the same publications).

We can expect no less, its the MO of the left controlled media. To them Its Nazi Germany again, and Trump is the Jew. With Obama it was the Stalin Media where the leader was 100% glorious and loved the people. Remember Stalin, he put everyone to work, and the economy grew, the production of gold was greater than South Africa, but the Russian miners made less than the African ones. They had Universal health care, good enough to have killed over a million people. They had healthy organic food, lots of vegetable soup, potato mostly. I gave up on the news media, its not news, its all opinions that are slanted, and all you get are the potatoes without the meat.

Dr. Michael Savage coined the phrase “Outcome based news reporting” on his show last week. I think that fits what the Media is up to even more than the term “Fake news”. Media really is driving the outcome of politics and society in this country. Pure unabashed Manipulation. Media is doing what the Nazis and Fascists did before WW2. They practice the pyschological tactic of projection, claiming the other side is all the things they themselves are. If you want to hear hard core propaganda, listen to the news reports out of Havana Cuba on shortwave. Sounds just like our news media. Absolutely frightening.

Good news: Trump knows all of this. Unlike the GOP-establishment types who need the media to like them, Trump has no such delusions. No matter what good he does for average Americans the media will hate him. The same would have been true for McCain, Bush, or Rubio had they won the presidency. But they can’t appreciate this fact.

Those magazine covers are representative of the way the broadcast media treats Trump vs Obama.

Obama was a f***ing imbecile. He never accomplished anything worthwhile in his entire life. (No, he didn't get into Harvard, his color got into Harvard.)

Trump has actually earned his position of prominence, but the broadcast media keep portraying trump as a dangerous kook, and Obama as a sensible genius.

The problem in this nation is that all means of communicating with the bulk of the American people are in the hands of liberal extremists, most of who work out of New York city. (Voted for Obama @ 89%)

Good post. Actually, Los Angeles, which likely also voted for Hillary 9 to 1, controls much of the messaging, too.

I do mention that in many of these such posts that I write (usually several per day) but in this particular case I thought it would distract from the "News" oriented point I was trying to make.

Yes, Los Angeles has a tremendous effect on the mindset of the American people because much of their television entertainment comes from there, and it invariably reflects liberal biases in every show.

I just think the greater damage is being done by liberal control of "News" and that comes mostly from New York city.

What the Leftist media find to be unforgivable in Trump, is that he actually honors America and her rooted citizens. Not so, the media, whether print or broadcast.

Ron Robinson of Young America’s Foundation once did a speech for college students just showing the magazine cover depictions of Reagan, Clinton, Gore, Bush, Buchanan, Limbaugh, Gingrich, etc.

Without much commentary-—just the pictures-—students saw immediately horrible bias.

Remember some 8 years ago when “Time” (?) lightened the Terrorist in Chief’s skin tone, beefed up his muscles and his nether region and changed the color of his swim trunks from red to black (or was it black to red).

Remember last year when MSM cameramen used filters to make President Trump’s face look ‘orange’ - then liberal elite comics made fun of his ‘orange skin’?

Yep, Saturday Night Live was right up there with CNN and some scum on FoxNews... What a shit country we were... and might be again...
