DEFENDERS of President Donald Trump offer two arguments in his favourthat he is a businessman who will curb the excesses of the state; and that he will help America stand tall again by demolishing the politically correct taboos of left-leaning, establishment elites. From the start, these arguments looked like wishful thinking. After Mr Trumps press conference in New York on August 15th they lie in ruins.
The unscripted remarks were his third attempt to deal with violent clashes in Charlottesville, Virginia, over the weekend (see article). In them the president stepped back from Mondaysscriptedcondemnation of the white supremacists who had marched to protest against the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee, a Confederate general, and fought with counter-demonstrators, including some from the left. In New York, as his new chief of staff looked on dejected, Mr Trump let rip, stressing once again that there was blame on both sides. He left no doubt which of those sides lies closer to his heart.

But it shows what the media is thinking and what they want.
They want Republicans to help to remove Trump from office.
Picture at the link shows Trump holding a KKK hood and using it as a megaphone.
That's the biggest point in his favor.
The last four @ssholes who had a grasp of what it means to be president didn't do this country any favors.
Shove it up your ass sideways and howl at the moon...(to the author)
The coup plotters have moved to a new front.
The Russian Conspiracy Theory has completely unraveled. Liberal publications like THE NATION and SALON admit DNC was likely hacked from within.
So now they pivot to “Trump is a Nazi.” Pathetic.
Trump is doing a great job and, with the exception of the libs on both coasts, Americans love him.
Nobody cares what a bunch of panty-waist limeys think.
‘that he is a businessman who will curb the excesses of the state; and that he will help America stand tall again by demolishing the politically correct taboos of left-leaning, establishment elites’
these two points, particularly the second, are the very reason Mr. Trump received a vote from me...
Their failure is going to be epic and they are only going to sink themselves.
Yeah... if Trump wanted to be a REAL President, he should get blowjobs from interns and shove cigars up their hoo-has. Right?
Yeah..., I guess he didn't read the the "ADVICE" to "Not say sh*t even if you have a mouthful...?" To his supporters, the fact that he just "Says it like it is"... is refreshing!
These are the same people now who would likely portray both Bushes as superior to Trump, yet we all here can remember when this publication joined in with all of the other talking class voices back in the day about how particularly the younger Bush could do very little or nothing right.
>>He left no doubt which of those sides lies closer to his heart.
What kind of an idiot thinks that a president has to be close to both sides? The Progs are some whiny little bitches!
Works For Me! I Voted For The Man BECAUSE HE IS NOT A "Professional Politician"!

More & More I Agree With Patton!
The qualifications are outlined in the Constitution, you moronic global Communists! President was elected legally by our political system of government.
Only the Democrat Party uses communist tactics to select a party candidate to run for President.
‘Footage of the counter-demonstration mostly shows average citizens shouting down their opponents. And they were right to do so’
observation is not these folk’s strong point...must have overlooked the riot vests, shields, helmets and batons...
This is what happens when the White House influence cannot be bought.
F m all.
I vote.
They already did that in spades before the election. How'd that work out for them.
The Economist is a left wing economic mag.
“LBJ was a difficult man but had the skill to accomplish much that was good.”
This part gave me a little chuckle. The author must be referring to the LBJ who was an alcohol and sex addict (and who most likely fathered children outside his marriage to Lady Bird), routinely engaged in election fraud, bullied subordinates and colleagues, and very often made very rude and sexual remarks around women office staff.
Who cares what the The Economist thinks? They are a U.K. magazine. Why don’t they concern themselves with their own crumbling country and ineffective RINO-like governenment?
Today’s pundits have no grasp of what it means to be a JOURNALIST.
Today’s press has no grasp of what it means to be an American.
