CHICAGO (CBS) A man who shot and killed three people in his East Side Home on Sunday has been released from custody, but police said their investigation continues.
Police said the 31-year-old man told officers he shot three people who had broken into his home near 102nd and Ewing around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, but police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi later said further investigation revealed some inconsistencies in his initial story.
Police sources said a witness told detectives the three people shot inside the house had been there all day, leading investigators to question his account of the shooting.
Wednesday morning, police said the homeowner had been released without charges, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Narcisco Ledesma, 22, Antonio Lopez, 17, and 24-year-old Celeste Cockriel all were pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsies revealed Ledesma died of a gunshot wound to the head, and Lopez and Cockriel died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators have confirmed the homeowner has a valid Firearm Owners Identification card.
Area South Detectives were investigating.

Been there all day? Guess he knew them? Guess there is a lot more to come out on this story.
This suggests that the cops (and/or the DA) are inclined to believe his story.
“Guess there is a lot more to come out on this story.”..
The guy is not off the hook yet. I. and the police, think there may be more to this story yet to come.
The East Side is another lost neighborhood. Calumet Park on the lake was once a nice and safe place to spend time.
Odd.
Not even a high crime area.
This is why you say as little as possible to the police in a self-defense shooting until you have a lawyer, even (especially?) if you are innocent. I would expect inconsistencies in my story in a high-stress situation like that, just due to the normally unreliable human memory. In an incident at my home a year or two ago (I don't remember which year, but I remember the exact time!), I told the police that it had started at a time that was five minutes after they finally came to my door - I was off by exactly one hour. The real time it started was two minutes before I dialed 911.
1- Call 911
2- Call your lawyer and follow his advice to the letter!
A sad day, they are across the viaduct and into the East Side where I grew up, 111th and M. Family home was just sold a few years ago.
I have a lawyer ‘s number stored in my phone specifically for that purpose, along with the initial instructions on my computer. I hope never to use them, but, like a fire extinguisher or a gun, I have them to be prepared.
Yep. I know that area well.
