Whoops ! Ol’ Timbuktu was there for 100s of years before it was “INCORPORATED”

In the late 13th or early 14th century it was ‘incorporated’ into the Mali empire.
Does incorporated mean— Taken over by MUZZYS, U no, like Spain was for a while....

There are a lot of women medievalists in the US.

There certainly are. It's a lot closer to parity than some of the STEM fields, for example. I question whether such a thing is even important. The identitarian assumptions of which the Left is so fond insist that what is thought is inextricably linked with who is thinking it, but place a text whose authorship is unknown in front of them and they can't tell if it was a man or a woman, black, white, or otherwise, unless the author states it. It really just doesn't matter that much.

I went to the 2019 Kalamazoo congress which ended last Sunday—551 sessions with the usual variety. A lot of topics I have no interest in but with so many sessions at the same time there was almost always one I wanted to attend—and there were a lot of book exhibits as usual. I talked to one Polish woman who thought that the congress had declined in quality (it was her third congress) but it seemed about the same as the other two I had been to. Apparently there has been pressure from the SJW types to tailor the program more to their tastes. There were a few “visible minorities” there but the people attending were overwhelmingly white...and a lot of them old. I enjoyed it—no one made me attend a session I didn’t want to attend.
