BALTIMORE - Contractors in Baltimore have removed several of the city's Confederate statues overnight.
The Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson monument in Wyman Park Dell was removed early Wednesday morning.
The Confederate Women's Monument on West University Parkway was removed overnight as was the Roger Taney Monument from Mount Vernon Place. Taney was a Supreme Court justice who ruled African-Americans could not be considered citizens of the U.S.
It is unclear if and when the citys remaining Confederate statue - the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Mount Royal Avenue - is scheduled for removal.
A commission appointed by former Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake recommended removing two of four Confederate-era monuments in 2015. On Monday, Baltimore's City Council made the decision to remove them.
Current Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh said she wanted the statues to be placed in Confederate cemeteries elsewhere in Maryland.
In an effort to prevent the kind violence seen in Virginia on Saturday when white nationalists came to Charlottesville to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, Pugh did not announce when the statues would be removed.
On Tuesday, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has called for the removal of a statue of Justice Roger B. Taney from the grounds of the State House.
Record homicide rates and this is what the city worries about.
Then the Constitution.
Then the Bible.
Date should be today - 8/16/2017
The erasing of history continues.
The grounds for this were laid when Ten Commandments monuments were removed and there was no real public outcry about it.
How much longer will the public tolerate having our history erased?
Reminds me of the Colts.
Bigot! Now that those statues aren't standing around disrespecting the peeps, Baltimore will become paradise on earth and a model for the rest of America.
And we did!
I have friends in Atlanta who are members of the UDC United Daughters of the Confederate...they must be broken hearted...
These are statues of DEMOCRATS.
Obviously, Baltimore will now achieve nirvana and there will be no more killings while unicorns will once again frolic in their parks.
When they realize that removing history erases their reason to cry reparations and mistreatment, they will be upset about that too.
Too many children are dying who will never get to enjoy the freedom that so many died for, and all Baltimore wants to do is put on this self righteous display of piety.
> I couldn’t care less about the Confederate statues being removed, but I agree that they need to get their priorities straight.
You should care. They won’t stop with Confederate statues. The left is going into cultural revolution mode.
Now that the triggers are gone and Governor Hogan showed his deep concern over slavery by removing its history , violence in Baltimore can stop
Anyone see the 2 crybabies on Fox just now crying about the statues, and the struggle, and how Trump has Nazis in the WH? How about fair and balanced!!! After this, and Eboni Williams and that Kat girl calling me a nazi sympathizer because I support Trump, I am done with Fox. There are no good shows left.
note to leftists-. I support Trump even more now.
The Constitution was flushed a long time ago. The Bible was expunged from American life decades ago.
America is now facing God's judgement with the spread of fatherless children, drug addiction, debilitating welfare, violence, ignorance, mental illness, and irreversible decline.
Maybe censoring internet searches and removing offensive videos?
The modern version of book burning
Yup. They’ll be pulling down crosses of steeples because it triggers muzz slimes. And then the steeples themselves.
