The Weimar Republic rises again.

Reminds me of clashing between communists and nazis.

As far as I know, the alt-right group has not crossed the supremacist line.

But given the reveal of their socialist tendencies makes me want to ask:

What do you have when you combine a nationalist and socialist?

The Weimar republic was quite turbulent. You had the “moderate” types running the country, bowing to the Versailles treaty (sort of like RINO mentality today) but I always thought what lit the fuse there was that those highly displeased with the government were not just college pukes.

You had a lot of hardened veterans from WWI running around in the activist groups.

Today we have Iraq/Afghanistan...

Interesting addenda:

The reparations to be paid by Weimar was broken into three bonds, only two of which were realistically expected to be paid. Nevertheless, the total of the 3 was 132 billion gold marks, equivalent to 33 billion USD in 1921.

Using inflation calculator, the Weimart bill today would be 451 billion.

Today, the US debt is about 20 Trillion, or over 44 times greater than the Weimar debt.
