Paleontologist Spills Beans on Evolutionary Emptiness

A noted evolutionary paleontologist reviews a new book on evolutionary mechanisms favorably, but gives Darwin skeptics ammo in the process.

Kevin Padian, a renowned evolutionary paleontologist, is certainly no friend of creation or intelligent design. When speaking to his Darwin buddies, he feels comfortable enough to be frank about problems. Here are some scraps from the table of his book review in Nature, “Evolution: Parallel lives,” a review of Improbable Destinies: Fate, Chance, and the Future of Evolution, by Jonathan B. Losos (Riverhead: 2017). Padian highly recommends the book, but has to make some corrections to views that Losos presents. We summarize some tasty morsels:

Giving Darwin skeptics ammunition is like giving them corks for their pop guns, or putting water into their squirt guns. A belief in God does not necessarily require one to accept a literal interpretation of a religious text. We don’t know exactly what they meant when they wrote it. But to be constantly arguing against massive amounts of evidence in favor of that literal interpretation is foolish. Instead of giving Creationists ammunition, they are giving atheists ammunition to use to discredit their entire belief system. But martyrdom is an attractive prospect for people who are used to being told what to think because it lets them prove their worth.

The gaps could be explained as a period when the process speeds up so much that it can’t leave a record.

If that is the correct explanation, then it indicates some kind of consciousness behind evolution, which would be further evidence of the Divine.

hijacking thread attempt...

with the eclipse coming up next week, why no discussion on how likely randomly tossed stones in space will line up precisely as they have to make a picture perfect phenomenon.

Debunking Darwin’s theory only requires a basic understanding of math and probability. No theology required. My guess is most Darwinists are lacking in basic math skills.

Evolution ignores that it was the ‘soul/spirit’ intellect, breathed into the flesh man Adam’s nostrils, that made him ‘alive’. All flesh returns to the dust/dirt from which it came.

Breath of life means ‘soul/spirit intellect’... Darwin is no longer an evolutionists, count on it.

You can cool the ad hominem attacks. Please go to your laboratory...mix the “correct” chemicals...blast it with whatever YOU decide and let it sit or percolate there..when the preparation comes out with a self replicating, metabolizing, complexity increasing, environmentally interactive physiochemical system let us know. And please...no helping it along...

I have a genius IQ and multiple mathematics and science (physics, chemistry, biology) awards. I am neither intimidated nor persuaded by mini-screeds like yours.

Evolution, so called, is a patchwork poly-hypothesis that requires more faith than theism.

Atheists did not create Western Civilization, Christians, including many scientists, did. There would be nothing edifying, certainly no university system, if atheists had predominated.

Evolution has always been most important for its socio-political presuppositions and implications, not for its actual, dubious, science.

When the One who created Time and then placed Man in it says a thing happened a certain way, take it to the bank. To think that you or I are in any position to evaluate “evidence” is ludicrous. On another point: He SPOKE light into existence. “Let there be light...” His worde, simply by BEING His words, are the Truth.

There was an article about that a while ago....

I can’t find the exact one, though.
