Protesters in North Carolina toppled a nearly century-old statue of a Confederate soldier Monday at a rally against racism.
Activists in Durham brought a ladder up to the statue and used a rope to pull down the Confederate Soldiers Monument that was dedicated in 1924. A diverse crowd of dozens cheered as the statue of a soldier holding a rifle fell to the ground in front of an old courthouse building that now houses local government offices.

Very reminiscent of the Taliban blowing up the giant Buddhas in Afghanistan and ISIS destroying the historical treasures of Syria. Eliminate all representations of history and culture that are in conflict with your beliefs.

Let me get this straight...
I have a right to destroy public property any time I don’t like it?
Is that how it goes now?

The American Taliban, eradicating history they don’t like. How shameful. What professors are at the government trough turning out these defective products?

No crime or consequences for the Freaks as long as it’s called a “protest”.

This vandalism was done with the full cooperation and acquiescence of the Durham city government which is controlled by radical Democrats. The police were ordered not to intervene and instead “protect the safety of the demonstrators”. The sworn officers were forced to witness a crime and do nothing. Police received similar orders from Democratic officials in Virginia. Americans must come understand the consequences when Democrats control anything.

Funny how nothing honoring the Klansman Robert C. Byrd gets touched.

I’m curious as to what will be erected later in place of these historical monuments. After all, they are just showing their place in history of a person or event.

Cool. I’ll make sure to wear PPE when tearing things apart so as to “safely” do it.

And not a single arrest. Sickening and infuriating. They want a war and will have one.

And Woodrow Wilson. He’s literally worshiped by the far left progressive Democrats tearing down these statues.

People here in NY should take down that stupid “Fearless Girl” statue. Would love to see the feminist reactions.

The average IQ score in the US is around 98. Which means that a good portion of the country simply doesn't have the ability to understand complex thought.
What happens when you remove the checks and balances brought about by social structures, like Church. When people lose their shame and don't feel any pride in how they are viewed by others. When people don't look to please a higher power, you get a lot of people with low intelligence running amok. In other words, 40 years ago, people didn't want to look stupid in public because it was embarrassing. Now they don't care.
I don't say that to sound insulting. It's just true.
What did destroying this statue accomplish? ...Nothing.
However, a lot of us had relatives that fought and died in the civil war. Whatever reasons they fought, they died by the tens of thousands. That statue was to remind us of that tragedy.
I was born and raised in the hills of N.C. My family were all mountain folk. When I was in school we used to have civil war re-enactments. We were taught songs like, "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" and "Dixie".
The war was always talked about as the "War of Northern Aggression." Very little if anything was ever said about slavery.

This is all about the Dem agenda to attack and divide the Rep Southern power base and to energize their base. It is all about politics and has very little to do with destroying Confederate historical culture.
