~The FReeper Canteen Presents~

Road Trip: Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina

seyjohn2

Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located to the southeast of Goldsboro, North Carolina. The base is named for LT Seymour Johnson, USN, a native of Goldsboro, a Naval Aviator, and a U.S. Navy test pilot who died in the crash of an F4F-3 Wildcat near Norbeck, Maryland, on 5 March 1941. The base is the only USAF installation named for a naval officer.

Seymour Johnson AFB is home to the 4th Fighter Wing (4 FW) of the Air Combat Command (ACC), which functions as the host wing for the installation. The 916th Air Refueling Wing (916 ARW), an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit operationally gained by the Air Mobility Command (AMC), and the 414th Fighter Group (414 FG), an Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) unit operationally gained by Air Combat Command (ACC), reside as tenant units.

The 4th Fighter Wing, under various designations, can trace its origins to the RAF Eagle squadrons of World War II. The Eagle Squadrons were Royal Air Force fighter squadrons formed with volunteer pilots from the United States.

The last Eagle Squadron was disbanded in September 1942, with most of the members transferring into the United States Army Air Forces, primarily the 4th Fighter Group of the U.S. Eighth Air Force. Many famous fighter aces were in this group.

The United States Air Force Reserve's 916th Air Refueling Wing (916 ARW) supports routine refueling missions for other Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied aircraft under the direction of the 4th Air Force and Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command. If recalled to active duty, the wing would integrate into the 18th Air Force and fall under the direction of Air Mobility Command (AMC) at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

The 916 ARW has 15 subordinate squadrons among its three groups: the 916th Maintenance Group, 916th Operations Group and 916th Mission Support Group, as well as one unattached squadron, the 916th Aerospace Medicine Squadron. More than 900 Air Force Reservists in the wing train to support worldwide operational commitments.

Oh, no! I don’t want it to end! I guess I’ll have to watch that last segment tonight.

I was sure wanting Simcoe dead, even though I knew from history that he didn’t. LOL! He made an amazing about face while deathly ill, huh!

A knife to the throat will do that!

It ties up all the loose ends quite nicely. I had to watch the last episode twice to work through all the different characters.

40 episodes was a good run. It will sell very well as a DVD collection.

Our military is a breath of sanity!

Isn't that the truth? I'm so relieved that they are being treated with the respect that they have earned and deserve! 🇺🇸

Hai!

Trying to find my pictures in my backup's - I've found some but like the "HI Kathy" kitty and my dancing frog and a few others seem to elude me at the time. PB won't even let me download my pictures; keep coming up with that black square.

I think that’s called blackmail and ransom. And they should be hit with a few thousand lawsuits!

Howdy, EGC! (((hugs)))

All is well here! I think I’ve finally caught up on my sleep, which is a good thing.

Hope you and Bo had fun yesterday at the lake! Were there any critters to play with?

Goood mornin', Early Birds!
It's a warm peaceful morning here.
That is, until hubby turns on the mower. :)
The rain we've had lately is making the grass grow FAST!
That's the part he doesn't like! LOL!
Hope all of you have a Terrific Tuesday!
...and that the rest of your week goes well!
((((hugs))))

Well they say it’s Third Party (whatever that means) and you now have to pay to have those images up. I’m just about finished locating my pictures on my PC and backup drives so when I’ve remade my page they can go pound sand since I’ll delete my account.

Good for you! I think I’ll delete mine, too. I don’t use them for re-posting, but thought them a safe place for family pictures.

I now use Flickr and they have tons of private space and they are repostable too. AND free! Well...and Fotki. That’s what I mostly use here.

I’m switching over to Postimage.org - so far everything’s worked and I paralleled them with Photobuckt in case.
