It's like seeing the Grand Canyon. A must for every human once in their lives. Awesome that simply cannot be described.
Hang around for the total eclipse on April 8, 2024. The path of totality runs through northern New England.
I certainly hope to be around then but at my age 2024 is by *no* means guaranteed.
In fact *tomorrow* isn't guaranteed! ;-)
I’m heading to Geneva, NE for the eclipse and am expecting heavy traffic around Omaha.
In Salem, Oregon, there are businesses closing for fear ot traffic chaos. We’ve seen stories recommending stocking up on food. I’ve heard radio ads talking about possible ower outages, and the need to stock up on ammo (always good advice). The Governor has already called out the National Guard in preparation for expected chaos.
When it happens, it will probably rain.
Are you gonna check the weather forecast before leaving?
Headin’ to Casper on Sunday...should be fun.
Odd thing about eclipses: It gets dark S-L-O-W-L-Y then the sun is in totality...then it gets light quickly!
This will be my 3rd - last one I saw was in Germany - had dinner in France the night before and the experience was priceless. A parade of folks dressed up in costumes proclaiming (in France-talk) that the world was ending tomorrow...
NO youtube video can capture the experience...
I plan on being IN Salem early Sunday morning. Where from there, I’m not sure, but will head a bit east and see what I can find to sleep in my car Sunday night.
Eclipse Monday morning then back home!
Oh, and I will have snacks, will have food and water. And cash. Should be good to go.
And a couple digital cameras as well.
PLEASE NOTE: Those quaint shacks you may see out in the country with the Moon on the door are NOT prime viewing areas to see the upcoming eclipse
That sure is a crappy looking observatory.
