Police Were Called Off When Violence Started – They Said, “We’re Leaving. It’s Too Dangerous”

FOX News reporter Doug McKelway attended the violent protests Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia.

McKelway told FOX News viewers the police pulled out of Lee Park after the violence started.

The police told him, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.”

This was after violent Antifa terrorists launched an attack on the white supremacists.

Doug McKelway: We are now beginning to hear criticism bubble up on all sides of this event about the initial slow response by the police. When I got out of my car yesterday in Charlottesville about 10:30 in the morning you knew this was a bad scene and bad things were going to be happening because people were congregating at Lee Park and Emancipation Park wearing helmets, body armor, carrying big heavy sticks. Nobody was intent on peace here from either side. People were intent on causing havoc and causing damage. And even as wounded were being brought out of the park police were sitting idly by. I was standing off a cordoned off area where the police had set up as a staging area, the state police, and they said you can come in here this is a safe area. But when the tear gas started to fly, thrown by protesters, the police themselves began to evacuate then. I asked the guy who was in charge, “Where you going?” He said, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.” They had a chance to nip this thing in the bud and they chose not to.

According to Richard Spencer and that gang, they had everything planned and agreed with the police. Cops were supposed to clear out ANTIFA from bad areas so they could peaceably assemble. Instead, when they arrived, ANTIFA infested the entire area and started immediately pepper spraying (bear pepper spray) people and tossing actual feces. Apparently some non-racist right winger was partially blinded and is in hospital. Others probably have the same problem. The cops just “watched,” allegedly.

After a little bit, the cops said that it was now illegal to protest or gather anywhere in the city due to the state of the emergency and—allegedly—began funneling everyone, including ANTIFA/BLM, into the same location, thus guaranteeing serious fights, since ANTIFA had been fighting since they got there. People were separated from larger groups and beat on with sticks. Others pepper sprayed. Cars were attacked. Although, of course, at this point it was “fight or die” mode, so protesters claim they literally had to fight their way through ANTIFA crowds to get out.

lol- so much for the ‘you’d better call the police instead of taking your defense into your own hands’ statements by police- looks like they won’t be responding if it’s ‘too dangerous’

The Soros subversives must have bribed the police with free donuts. It they had to decide between knocking antifa heads and a dozen mouth-watering donuts, they would take the donuts.

Think about it. In most cases police show up and start the paper work. Collect data and go hunting. Better do it absolutely correct or the perps walk. In fact... in fact due to liability police and fire assets are under no obligation whatsoever to respond to 911 calls. I repeat...they are under no obligation legally. They do respond... but if there was ever a circumstance where they couldn’t respond or unable to respond they are under no liability because of circumstances beyond their control or beyond acceptable limits of keeping First Responders from becoming casualties.

National guard? They’re on loan, and get screwed on benefits and compensation if hurt. I don’t think their hearts are in it.

Don’t issue permits? Constitutional violation.

Declare martial war and bring in Marines?
Whoa...

Elements of that crowd in Charlottesville was ready for a fight. Churchy folk down their to support the left... need to fire whomever coaxed them into that volatile cauldron.

The mayor? Permits were issued and the permit holders were NOT protected. Should they have been protected? My answer... permits should not have been issued.

Is it time for tort reform?

sort of like firemen leaving because the fire is too hot. If the cops aren’t allowed to do their job, their leadership should be fired. If the cops themselves refuse to do their job, they should be fired.

The police are REQUIRED to protect those who have a legal permit to demonstrate whether they like them or not. They should have come with sufficient manpower, and equipment, including barriers to prevent the unpermitted thugs of Black Lies Matter, and AntiFa from mixing with the Unite the Right people who had a permit.

Folks have a right to bear arms.

Folks do not have a Constitutional right to punch the snot out of someone.
These anarchists have demonstrated they are geared up for assault, battery, destruction, and looting against their fellow Citizens
If the Government wants to tax us, they need to take out these yo yo’s.

Why did Unite the Right chose a Democrat controlled state to rally?

The statue of Robert E Lee to be removed is in Charlottesville, VA.

Yep, except this time they were hoping for deaths just to pin it on Trump. They have blood on their hands.

I’m not knocking the police for the tremendous police work they do- I am however stating that they often are either not able to get to a developing crime scene in time to save a person from harm or death or they refuse to come to the aid of folks in certain circumstances- meaning that IF we are to remain safe, then in such cases we must take measures ourselves to protect ourselves

Agreed, I suspect the short lull in gun sales is about ready to stop and sales are going thru the roof.
