Ever been stuck in car and a riot ?
I was close once and its memorable .
Anyone would freak in such a situation and try to escape.
It looks like a panicked young driver meets crazy lefty
loons throwing themselves on his car and using baseball bats.
And no police around to settle the crowd.
In 1981 I was in Panama City, Panama driving my Black Trans Am as I rounded a curve there were something like 1000 protesters marching towards me. I did a Smokey and the Bandit turn and unassed the area.
Having had several years of riot control training in the Army my one big takeaway was if you are in a riot, get out of there.
The vehicle was clearly being attacked by thrown objects by a hostile crowd before the vehicle ever drove into the crowd.
It's undeniable. It's right there for all to see.
Yep, in Chicago in the 60's.....9 PM coming back from sight-seeing and dinner in Old Town...heading back to the suburbs on main arterial Madison Street..... four in our family in car.
Won't go into detail except to say the rioters were waiting for whities traveling through on this wide, brightly lit street.....they were chasing cars coming through......brick thrown through closed back seat window hit my teen-age cousin in her head.
We put the pedal to the metal...and if any rioters had been in front of our vehicle, too bad....we saw the flashing lights of a cluster of cop cars a quarter-mile ahead and took off big time to reach them. Two squad cars escorted us to nearby Cook County hospital where cousin MK was treated and released. The halls of the hospital were lined with gurneys holding injured victims.
Terrifying experience.
