Raiders sit stars; Marshawn Lynch sits during anthem in loss to Cardinals
ESPN ^ | August 13, 2017

The Oakland Raiders did not figure to risk injury to any of their star or front-line players in their preseason opener Saturday night, and they stayed true to that summation. It did not exactly go well for them in a 20-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, Arizona.

Even if the erstwhile Beast Mode suited up but did not play, he may have made the most news. In his return to the NFL, Lynch sat during the national anthem. In an apparent protest reminiscent of Colin Kaepernick’s last season to bring attention to racism and police brutality, Lynch remained seated during the anthem on a cooler. Later, during the game, he borrowed a sideline photographer’s camera to purportedly snap some shots.

I hope the NFL folds and they all have to get real jobs.

I encourage the Raiders to let him keep sitting. Let someone else play his position.

Lynch sat on his ass eating a banana while the Anthem was played.

Hope this ghetto trash gets carried off the field on a stretcher.

Thank God I love college football and have a renewed interest in baseball. Now I can actually do something constructive on Sundays in the fall instead of watching overpaid and clueless fools like Marshawn Lynch and others in the National Foolball League.

We had a lot of good men and women that didn’t come back from war. Some of those that did, came back in wheelchairs. It wouldn’t bother me if he gets put in one. I wish these #$^&@# the absolute worst.

We had people go to war so these POS can live a great life. I hope they all rot.

Sorry. I know that I shouldn’t feel that way.

Fast food places are going automatic so there’s that venue they can’t find work in.

I am no longer interested in the NFL, so I don’t care what he does. And neither do football fans. By refusing to respect the National Anthem, a symbol of our Nation, he is not figuratively “making a statement” as many like to alibi. What he is doing is figuratively pissing on the blood that many, some under terrible circumstances, shed for that Anthem. And Flag.

75% of NFL players are broke 3 years after their football careers end. I assume the breakdown is probably 50% white players, 90% black.

He sounds like another football player who has taken way too many shots to the noggin. With the money he makes, I can’t figure out what the heck he’s whining about.

There will be no NFL in our home ever again.

We turned it off last year and haven’t missed it. Hope everyone else does.

There are active military in our family, one of whom gave his life in service and this is not what they’re fighting for.

It's good that ESPN covered this so someone could pick it up because I never watch ESPN first hand.

Regarding NFL football, the only possible reason to have it on TV is for a little white noise for nap time. The games themselves aren't quite as exciting as watching clouds cross the sky on days with only light gusts. I stopped watching the NFL about two decades ago.

Nevertheless, I can hope Marshawn Lynch attracts copycats all over the league. It's good when these players tell their dwindling fan base how they really feel about life.

Last year in Texas a large group of minorities were protesting the police department....whining really.....and the police chief got on the bull horn and said it perfectly: If you think there is something wrong rather than protest, go apply to the police academy. We are currently accepting applications. It was a great line and absolutely spot on.

I am not one who thinks the police are on a mission to mess with minorities, but if someone truly believes this is the case, they should join the police and fix it.....not whine about it.

But, here in lies the difference between successful people and unsuccessful people. Successful people take control of their life. Unsuccessful wait for good things to happen to them....and they usually wait forever. My uncle had this line he told me everytime I was feeling sorry for myself. “If you don’t take control of your life, some else will.” Democrats are just so willing to hand control of their life over to politicians and so-called leaders.....which is the real reason they are always disappointed. It has nothing to do with hate or racism or society. It all comes down to how they view themselves.

And for the life of me I can’t convince people to take control of their life.....they’d just rather whine....like Marshawn Lynch.
