China sounds just like crazy North Korea
China won’t compromise: PLA — PTI, The Pioneer, August 11, 2017

Consider the forces of each of the countries:
South Korea’s army is about as large as ours. Their air force and navy, while not at all comparable to our, are entirely capable of defeating North Korea’s air force and navy. South Korea needs us for strategic deterrence. To prevent China from attempting to bully it.
Japan has navy and air forces are the best in Aria, including China.
India’s army is larger than ours, albeit not with as modern equipment. It’s air force is much smaller and features mostly MIG-21s and Su-30s.
China’s army is twice as large as India’s. Its Air Force has the advantage of more modern aircraft (the J-10, China also has J-7 which is like the MIG-21). But, China would have to project force across Tibet. That is a long and tenuous supply line.
China isn’t a friend of Islam
There are more than two sides.
This is probably an uneducated question on my part, but are they after easier access to Africa and the Middle East without the complication of a ring of islands friendly to the U.S.? They would have to seize a chunk of land to make that happen.
China has been cuddling up to Bangladesh and other neighbors.

PLA is truly a paper tiger.
The NVA kicked their ass.
It’s the only real combat they’ve ever seen in their entire history.
Not the Middle East and Africa so much as being able to project sea power.
there was the war against the Nationalists and there was the Sino-Indian war of 1962. They do have battle honours..
OK
The War against the nationalists was a peasant uprising where they won by overwhelming numbers.
The Nationalists literally ran out of bullets in several engagements. I don’t know how one can award honors to an “army” that loses 50% of its men while inflicting minor casualties on its opponent.
The Sino-Indian war is new to me. Just looked it up.
Two backward armies where China had a 7-1 numerical advantage, and still nearly as many casualties as India.
The only thing they’ve shown historically is an unnatural affinity and propensity for dying.
Maps do not do justice to how difficult it would be to cross over from western China (or, Tibet) to either Pakistan or Bangladesh. Plus, you have to get from western China to eastern China.
A much better (but still challenging) path is from Burma to southern China.

Oh, and also there was the unpleasantness along the Yalu in 1950. I recall that a lot of our soldiers and Marines died
fighting these insignificant peasants.
>>Am I missing anything?<<
Vietnam over China encroaching into Vietnamese waters with drilling platforms and fishing vessels.
Again, a case of overwhelming numbers and disproportionate casualties.
As my father told it (he was in the streets of Pyongyang after the Hadong Ambush), the Chinese sent at least 1 million men across the Yalu.
They did, literally, run out of ammo killing them and had to retreat. The PLA suffered severely, but never gave up. A million men drove 80,000 men all the way down to the 38th parallel.
It’s interesting.
Write a prayer on each MOAB dropped!
How about this: the Chinese want a port out of Bangladesh because they are trying to develop western China but transporting the equipment and needed materials over land is prohibitively difficult and expensive. Better to load them on a ship and bring them around to a port by India.
They were talking about leveling 700 mountains a couple of years ago.
Tibet
Sikkim does not border Bangladesh.
