This isn’t a video game for your entertainment, dude. So spare us the tough behind the keyboard taunting.

I would have thought people on FR learned that lesson after Iraq.

Let these people work their plan, and let N. Korea make the first mistake.

let N. Korea make the first mistake

I think that is what Trump is working on now.

Sure hope DJT knows what he’s doing. It’s said he thinks three moves ahead on the chessboard while everyone else is playing checkers.

Prayers for the CinC and this nation.

“You gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie?”

” . . and let N. Korea make the first mistake.”

That is exactly what Josie Wales was doing to the Red Legs. Let’s see just how serious you are about taking us down. He goaded them into making the first move.

.... let N. Korea make the first mistake.

North Korea's first mistake was thinking they're dealing with another Clinton, Bush II or Obama.

What's the next "mistake" you'll have them make, or will you move the goal post again?

The Nork's have spent the last 25 years bamboozling the U.S., taking advantage of all the "aid" (read that: extortion) they've extracted from three weak Presidents in a row and have successfully built up a nuclear program under the radar and out of sight of our "intelligence agencies."

North Korea has directly threatened Nuclear War against the United States of America. The Nork's have demonstrated ICBM capabilities with the reach of hitting all but southern Florida in the CONUS. That fact caught our military and Intel agencies (there's a laugh...) by surprise. They're at least ten years ahead of where both the military and Intel agencies thought they were.

No one really knows if the Nork's can put a nuclear tip on any of their ICBM's and have it survive re-entry. For all we know they can, for all we know they can't.

If you don't understand the difference between North Korea and Iraq by now let me spell it out for you: North Korea has demonstrated they have the capability to hit us. That means they can back up their rhetoric. The only question is, nuclear or not? EMP or not?

Iraq never proved that. In fact we knew Saddam Hussein was all bluster when it came to the United States.

So what are we supposed to do here, wait until a few hundred thousand get hit by a small nuke? That's a brilliant solution!

Look, I'm not all for going to war. I wish this could end another way, I really do. When we have a despot backed by Russia and Russian military scientists, that the Chinese coddled, helped create, fed and gave aid to directly threatening us with nuclear annihilation and that despot makes no bones about threatening us with it? Time for him to go, one way or another.

That's just the way it is.

Tend to agree with you, since China has said it will stay out if we don’t strike first: do they mean a nuclear strike? Iraq is a good comparison. So here;s some scattered thoughts.

If we’re boiling this down to tough talk from Western movies:

`Open Range’ Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall
[Charley has explained his strategy for the upcoming fight]
Boss Spearman: Sounds like you got it all worked out.
Charley Waite: Yeah, except the part where we don’t get killed.

OTOH:

Mack: Shame what this town’s come to.
Charley Waite: You could do something about it.
Mack: What? We’re freighters. Ralph here’s a shopkeeper.
Charley Waite: You’re men, ain’t you?
Mack: I didn’t raise my boys just to see ‘em killed.
Charley Waite: Well you may not know this, but there’s things that gnaw at a man worse than dying.

I think a precise conventional strike—something like Claus von Stauffenberg and Hitler, but from an aircraft—against the little Prince and his handlers would resolve the matter.
(Unlike the attempt on Hitler, probability of success would have to be Ivory soap sure, or 99 44/100ths certain.) I think that’s what is planned, with the recent arrival of the Nebraska boys.

While I’m risking all this thinking, I believe the response of the NORKs would be similar to the reaction of the Wicked Witch of the west’s guards as they stood over her puddle: relief and gratitude.
One final point. Someone else pointed out that a strike seems to be what they (NORKS) want; either that or they believe that sabre-rattling will gain concessions, as demonstrated by the pusillanimous actions of Democrat `Chamberlains’. I tend to believe the latter.

some don’t seem to realize that wars rarely end predictably
or without a lot of new problems created.

also there is the small matter of destroying the capital markets and our retirement accounts (for those of us who work and haven’t gone off the grid into the provinces).
