Growing up in Wisconsin, we Rural Kids either de-tassled corn or trimmed Christmas Trees in the summer months.
The, ‘cool’ City Kids worked at the Pool or at the Dairy Queen (Ice Cream) or the A&W Drive-In (Hamburgers, Root Beer and Cute Girls on Roller Skates taking your order).

Do away with SNAP and welfare and you’ll have Americans looking for jobs instead of sitting at home talking on their Obama phones, smoking weed and watching cable.
But who wants to pay $15 an hour to kids. It's about developing work ethics.
Growing up in Idaho potato country, we even had what we called "spud vacation" from school so kids could help with the harvest and pick up some extra money. That was before the days of mechanized harvesters. But kids (and parents) today would consider such work demeaning and beneath them. But there are plenty of idle able-bodied welfare recipients who should be put to work in order to receive their benefits.
Round up university students and require that they work in the fields for 2 summer semesters. Room and board and any money earned would go to reimburse the treasury for grants and the costs of U.S. higher educations. For most Students it would be like taking a semester abroad. Give them a couple of credits for work/life experience and a semester abroad for their Spanish language program! Solidarity with the agricultural workers and the collective!

The growers did stress safety and not acting like an idiot, nobody I knew ever got any serious injuries.
Yup. And they've destroyed that with these cheap illegals and the trashy mexican culture they bring with them. Seems like the farmers are being hoist by their own petard. Perhaps they'll try some recruiting amongst actual Americans next year.
