The theory was described to us in a series of private chats with high-ranking officials:
The generals White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis speak frequently, see the world similarly and privately express a sense of duty to help steer Trump. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford, is an ally.
The New Yorkers, including economic adviser Gary Cohn and Deputy National Security Adviser Dina Powell (with 25 years of foreign-policy experience), have subsumed some of their personal views to blunt Trump's worst ideas. This crowd is highly skilled at communicating with the president (using visuals and grand positioning) to refine or moderate "America first" provocations. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is also very involved, helping demand a process where POTUS has all the information to make domestic and international economic decisions.
Republican congressional leaders won't win any profiles in courage for standing up to Trump. But almost all could move against the president if special counsel Bob Mueller finds crimes, or the president succumbs to radical instincts.
These officials see their successes mostly in terms of bad decisions prevented, rather than accomplishments chalked up:

As I recall, Mike Allen was a charter member of the left-sloping Journolist movement.
My sources tell me that VandeHei’s “private chats” were with the Seven Dwarfs...
Way back in the 60s I was a Peace Corps trainee bound for lovely Afghanistan (I was “deselected” the day before we left). Anyway we learned Persian/Farsi/Dari. And the word for snow is, in fact, “barf”. Since our training was in winter in the Colorado Rockies, we’d have barfball fights during our breaks. Our language instructors called snowball fights “barf jangi” or snow wars.
Barf detergent is apparently manufactured in Iran, so you are correct.
Who knew they exported anything other than hate and terrorism?
The cross-language amusement worked both ways. “Go” is Persian for “sh*t” and “goes” means “f@rt”. So beginning English learners have a hard time not laughing out loud.
People should not be ignoring this. Axios has very good sources, and this matches what people like Roger Stone are saying that Trump is being isolated. The barf alert shouldn’t be on the article but rather on if this is occurring. Look at McMaster, for example, he’s systematically purging pro-Trump people, and there are reports Bannon could be on the chopping block. Roger Stone has said that Trump has been isolated in the White House in terms of info especially with respect to what McMaster is doing in firing pro-Trump people.
Axios is definitely left-leaning. I posted a few threads written by their Jonathan Swan because I believed Steve Bannon was one of his sources. I’ve noticed since Kelly became chief of staff, Swan hasn’t written anything posted on Axios.
Just silly.
Again, why anyone puts any stock in such garbage is beyond me.
These are the same “sources” who had Bannon gone 6 months ago.
Axios is just another leftist propaganda site, started in Jan. 2017 by guys from Politico.
It’s totally worthless.
You consistently post bulls*** articles.
I wonder why. You love Axios even though I posted so much info about it and its founders on another Axios thread.
You are mistaken I don’t love Axios. I have been very selective in which articles I’ve posted from them.
Like it or not, they seem to have credibility with the other news sources. I hear them often being cited on FNC. I’ve already explained many times who I trust and who I don’t from Axios. You no like, you no read.
HA HA HA HA HA!
Credibility with other “News” sources.
Now that’s funny.
AFAIK, on Free Republic it is not a bannable offense to make comments even if not applause.
You might salvage a shred of credibility were you to describe in detail how
Axios has been wrong. HA HA HA HA adds nothing constructive to the conversation.
Au contraire; you post Axios articles frequently as though they are accurate so it is your responsibility to prove they are right. You post these propaganda b.s. articles even though the founders are all from Politico and even the media bias checking sites who are mostly all leftist say that Axios has a leftist slant.
What I wonder about is your motive.
To my knowledge, all of the Axios article I posted (maybe a half dozen total) have not only not proven wrong, no one mentioned has protested about them. That’s about as accurate as you’ll find nowadays.
Again, why anyone puts any stock in such garbage is beyond me.
Axios used to be called Politico, correct?
If so, then "garbage" is the perfect term to use regarding such tales...
