Yes, they would, which is why it’s so stupid for the Republicans to think that Democrat voters would vote for a Republican if the candidate were the same race or sex. Democrats don’t really care about that stuff. They want “free” stuff.
And if he doesn’t, they can just illegally replace him on the ballot at the last minute with a candidate that polls better (remember what they did with Toricelli in 2002)
