Scorned Senate Candidate Mo Brooks Begs Donald Trump to Reconsider Endorsement of Campaign Rival
Mediaite ^ | August 9, 2017 | Aidan McLaughlin

[snip]

Brooks expressed his sadness over Trump’s decision, claiming he was “baffled and disappointed Mitch McConnell and the Swamp somehow misled the President into endorsing Luther Strange.”

Brooks has previously registered his opposition to McConnell, calling for his ouster last month after the failure of Republican efforts to pass health care legislation.

And so, in light of Trump’s tweet knocking the Majority Leader, Brooks has made one last-ditch effort to win back his affection, telling the president that Strange and McConnell don’t “support [his] agenda,” and asking Trump to reconsider his endorsement:

Mo Brooks @mobrooksforsen I agree completely, Mr. President. McConnell & Strange don't support your agenda. I do. Reconsider endorsement @realDonaldTrump? #DitchMitch https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/895347654431035393 … 3:02 PM - Aug 9, 2017

Looks like Alabama will be Mississippi redux. Moore and Brooks will split the conservative vote and the establishment candidate, Strange, will get the nod.

Trump mistakenly believes this endorsement will entice McConnell and Ryan to deliver on legislative victories.

Why don't Brooks focus on the issues and what he'll do for AL in the Senate, instead of worrying about Trump's endorsement. Right now he's in 3rd place behind Strange and Moore.

Trump endorsed Ryan over Nehlen. Yes, I was hurt by it but for someone who was going to be President, it was a no-brainer. Ryan was the Speaker; Nehlen was going to be a back-bencher with zero influence to push through Trump's agenda other than a vote. Now the fact that Ryan has pissed all over Trump's agenda doesn't take away the fact that it was still a smart decision to back the guy who was experienced and was higher up in the legislative food chain than someone totally unknown.

Mo, don’t be disappointed, your day will come. This is an Art of the Deal move to get tax reform. Just be patient

I don't know, but I suspect, the advisors surrounding Trump have painted Mo Brooks as an "obstructionist" because of Brooks' position on the simple and full repeal of Obamacare. We the People don't really care about the "replace" side of "repeal and replace" until the "repeal" side is complete. Mob Brooks gets that. Trump's advisors do not. The best way for We the People to get past Trump's advisors and help him to see the grass roots point of view, is to vote Mo Brooks. Give Mo Brooks a Senate seat. Put him in a position where he can deal on even terms with the likes of McConnell. I'd be pleased with Moore or Brooks. But based on the polling, I'm praying for a Mo Brooks victory.

I do believe Presidents end to support those in office. Otherwise it’s a slap in the face. Anyone remember Kay Bailey going against Perry?

Unless Strange or anyone else for that matter gets 51% there will be a runoff. But yes you are right this splitting of the base is a huge problem. I’ve lost count of how many times a traitor like McCain got in because the base split. The Rats exploit this with great effect. Soros puts “Tea Party” pretenders in races for instance. Conservatives must band together to prevent this because the GOPe uses it too.

“But based on the polling, I’m praying for a Mo Brooks victory.”

Moore would be great but I don’t think he can win. He scares too may voters and Moore would really bring out the left in big numbers. The gays and the rest of em would crawl through broken glass to vote against Moore. Trump should have come out for Brooks no question.

The GOPe has so completely pi$$ed all over President Trump that he should be wearing a raincoat! I am wondering if Trump will modify his call now that Bitch has not only pi$$ed all over Trump, but crapped on him as well. There needs to be a point in time where the President goes after the GOPe. I suspect he will hold off to see if these worthless turds can pass tax reform, but by the end of this calendar year, failing any substantial legislative victories, Trump will need to start campaigning against most of the eight Senators who are up for re-election next year.

It has been entirely foreseeable. Trump should have known that it was going to come down to something very similar to Hitler’s rise to power against the corrupt forces aligned against him. He should have known it for the last year, I certainly have. If he is to succeed in MAGA he literally has to crush anyone who gets in his way. Schmooze, backslap, whatever is necessary at the moment but the Night of the Long Knives has to come and it dang well better come soon.

Still waiting for you to name a democrat running for senate in Alabama
that can beat Judge Moore.

Moore has won two statewide elections as Judge.
How many statewide elections has Mo Brooks won?

I think it is something else entirely. Trump is demonstrating that McConnell and Trump together are unable to get someone elected who will not act on the voter's agenda. It's all on GOPe.

These two (2) clowns Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan could not even put a 2 car funeral together.

They have never supported President Trump and whoever is advising President Trump is wrong!

The Ditch Mitch and Ditch Paul Ryan movement has started!

Ryan and McConnell should have delivered legislative victories at this point. They have failed. It should be hardball time. But Trump isn't playing it.

Trump already gave McConnels wife a cabinet position. I guess he figures he has to keep sucking up to get anything done. Trump also supported the vile McCain over Kelli Ward in the last primary. Look what that got him. These Washington politicians are snakes.
