The trade rags ran an article about the dirty little secret of Aspie's in IT. Lots of them. The anti-social, solitary mindset works well for a software engineer focused on a task. Not sure ADHD is a good fit. Being easily distracted is not helpful to completing a complex task.

I'm spending my afternoon improving my C++ interpolation library for calculating aircraft performance. Calculations are spot on to 5 places after the decimal. Spoon feeding a nice error message to the API user is today's pursuit. Your selected altitude X exceeds the upper limit Y for the current gross weight of the aircraft.

I just looked at the dateline to the article linked above. I read it and remembered it like it was yesterday. The neurons are still functioning as birthday #61 approaches.

Interesting article. I know a programmer that his it. He will totally ignore people in the hallway. If you talk to him in his office about something work related, he seems totally normal.
