CHAMPLAIN, N.Y. -- They have come from all over the United States, piling out of taxis, pushing strollers and pulling luggage, to the end of a country road in the north woods.
Where the pavement stops, they pick up small children and lead older ones wearing Mickey Mouse backpacks around a "road closed" sign, threading bushes, crossing a ditch, and filing past another sign in French and English that says "No pedestrians." Then they are arrested.

good! tell your friends and family, Canada is where it’s at. I won’t miss them.
About 100 Canadian Forces personnel have been called in to help deal with the crush of asylum seekers crossing into Quebec from the United States. They will help the RCMP and the Canada Border Services Agency as well as other partners. The soldiers are setting up tents in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle to accommodate close to 500 people.
PING
To quote Martha Stewart: “It’s a good thing.”
Canadians will soon discover the joys of diversity we’ve been enjoying.
Long range forecast from NOAA is mild winter - that works in our favor as well. Winning !!!
“Then they are arrested.”
So Canada doesn’t subscribe to the “Give us your poor, huddled masses” hysteria, huh?
An English,or French, speaking person (that is, a "native" Canadian) is fine...just as it's always been.An Arabic,Spanish or Creole speaking one...maybe not.
And,of course,Canada could take the same attitude toward our recent arrivals.
Will be fun to watch!
I would normally say “good” but once Canadians get so fed up with all the “refugees” et al, I’m concerned about a reverse flow back into USA
The only “place” for these people are their homelands. Go back and make things better, not make things worse here (or Canada)
Under the 2002 Safe Country Agreement between the United States and Canada, migrants seeking asylum must apply to the first country they arrive in. If they were to go to a legal port of entry, they would be returned to the United States and told to apply there.
But, in a quirk in the application of the law, if migrants arrive in Canada at a location other than a port of entry, such as Roxham Road, they are allowed to request refugee status there.
They will enjoy the Canadian Winter ,LOL
Let’s see how many we can chase up to Canaduh.
They’re not “immigrants”. They were in the US illegally. They were considered “illegal aliens”, hence the need to flee.
I think that "temporarily detained" would have been a better way to put it.It's my understanding that these people are "detained",brought to some kind of processing center and then brought to some kind of shelter.IOW,they're warmly welcomed per Trudeau's instructions.
