“there is no excuse for shooting dogs”
Complete and utter nonsense.
There are INDEED times when dogs are out of control and need to be shot.
I don’t understand all the dog lovers (as opposed to respecters) who pretend everything is lollipops and flowers with all dogs. Dogs, not cats, i.e., do have histories of vicous attacks/maulings, after all.
There is bound to be a nasty dog to get in the way of a cop at an inconvenient time here and there.

As our sheriff pointed out to the over excited dog shooters on the force, in the police academy, cadets are trained to deal with dogs without shooting them. Since he laid down the law there have been no more dog shootings in this county and no police officers have suffered any injuries attributable to dogs. Several unruly dogs have been impounded after going after an officer but no officer has felt it incumbent on him to shoot a dog. Get as excited as you want, there is no call for police to shoot dogs that are not rabid unless they are in the middle of a legitimate raid and dealing properly with the dog would put the officer in harm’s way from the targets of the raid.
Satan won't allow humans any comfort. So he took the lovable pooch away and created a fascination with bully breeds. I associate these dogs with masculine insecurity.
These dogs/owners walk the streets and I see parents welcome the dogs with strollers and baby's faces. Oh, the terror.
