U.S. Prepared to Launch ‘Preventive War’ Against North Korea, Says H.R. McMaster
Newsweek ^ | August 5, 2017 | Jason Le Miere

Posted on 08/06/2017 10:45:49 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The United States is preparing for all options to counter the growing threat from North Korea, including launching a “preventive war,” national security adviser H.R. McMaster said in an interview with MSNBC that aired Saturday. The comments come following North Korea carrying out two tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) last month.

“What you’re asking is are we preparing plans for a preventive war, right?” he said in response to a question from MSNBC’s Hugh Hewitt. “A war that would prevent North Korea from threatening the United States with a nuclear weapon. And the president’s been very clear about it. He said he’s not gonna tolerate North Korea being able to threaten the United States. If they have nuclear weapons that can threaten the United States. It’s intolerable from the president’s perspective. So of course, we have to provide all options to do that. And that includes a military option.”

North Korea has claimed that its latest missiles, which it says can carry large nuclear warheads, can now strike anywhere in the United States. Experts believe that the country’s missile program, led by Kim Jong Un, has greatly accelerated in recent months putting it far ahead of previous predictions about when it could launch reliable long-range missiles.

Speaking to Newsweek in recent days, several experts said that an attack would be the deadliest the U.S. has ever received and potentially kill more than 100,000 people if it struck in large population centers like New York City or Los Angeles.....

Well yes. You always have war plans in case you need them. It would be stupid not to. There’s probably a file full of plans for a possible war with Canada.

I still hope that some brainiac will be a hero and figure out a way to cause N. Korea to bomb itself instead of its intended target.

We would need the Chinese to acquiesce to such a war. And I simply wonder what that would cost us. What do we give up, who do we sell out.

McMaster and Newsweak, I don’t trust the former and I ignore the latter. McMaster needs to go but won’t.

Give him another star and send him to Afghanistan to win that war.

The Constitution requires a formal declaration of war by Congress unless the War Powers Act is used as a meatgrinding widowmaker.

The RINOcrat senators and representatives are far too much gutless cowards to vote for a declaration of war.

A looney former ex-military man interviewed by the token conservative on a rabid left wing network, reported by a former magazine sold for one dollar. Go figure.

No reason to keep it a secret/s

Reminds me of this guy:

Ted Striker: My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar. Elaine Dickinson: When will you be back? Ted Striker: I can't tell you that. It's classified.

Everything that McMaster said is technically true. HOWEVER... as long as any news story or any government official is based upon the following assumption:

“North Korea has claimed”

OK, remember that assume breaks down to: (jack) ass u (and) me. Take that assumption and $1.85 and you can go to Starbucks and get a tall, coffee of the day.

Lemmee splain. The most powerful NK missile, only in theory, could reach about Kansas City, with no payload bigger than a jar of kimchee.

To carry more than kimchee, they need another missile stage added on to provide more fuel in boost.

Their best missiles so far are all “truck” launched. They don’t have a truck big enough for a bigger missile. If they did, a bigger heavier missile would get damaged joyriding around NK.

They would have to go to a silo launch with onsite liquid fueling. That’s what every other nuclear power does that wants nukes delivered.

NK has no silos, if they did we would know. Also, all of their orbital apogee missiles have burned up on re-entry, they don’t have adequate heat shields, yet.

Now, can we all calm down????

Oops, my bad...they could take an existing solid fuel missile, that they have successfully launched from one of their subs...

A missile that already can hold a small nuke, but that has a limited range of about 500 miles.....

Sail said sub to say 500 miles off the coast of LA and let ‘er fly.

Let’s hope we are as good at tracking subs as we say we are....

The Chinese will not engage the US in existential war. They would lose it conclusively and quickly.

No contest.

And that’s what they would have to do to stop the US from taking out the Norklandia nuke capability.

Is “preventive war” akin to ‘alternative facts”?

Lil Kimmy still needs a survivable reentry vehicle.

No, it's akin to seeing a rabid coyote near your property and that of your neighbor's, and then one day you see that the coyote is capable of jumping fences so you shoot it in the head. That's what the fat, little, rabid nork boy needs - to be put down.
