A retired attorney in Virginia Beach is so incensed that Republicans couldn't repeal the Affordable Care Act he's suing to get political donations back, accusing the GOP of fraud and racketeering.
Bob Heghmann, 70, filed a lawsuit Thursday in U.S. District Court saying the national and Virginia Republican parties and some GOP leaders raised millions of dollars in campaign funds while knowing they weren't going to be able to overturn the ACA, also known as Obamacare.
The GOP "has been engaged in a pattern of Racketeering which involves massive fraud perpetrated on Republican voters and contributors as well as some Independents and Democrats," the suit said. Racketeering, perhaps better known for use in prosecuting organized crime, involves a pattern of illegal behavior by a specific group.
The lawsuit lists as defendants the Republican National Committe and Virginia's two national GOP committee members, Morton Blackwell and Cynthia Dunbar, as well as the Republican Party of Virginia and state party Chairman John Whitbeck.

YES!
I understand the frustration but this is a thoroughly frivolous lawsuit if I’ve ever seen one.
Now imagine this being repeated a million times across the country.
Do you think the mean-spirited RINO’s would wake up and do what they promised then?
The republican party is killing itself just to spite President Trump. Those doing this deserve to be fired by the people immediately or as soon as possible. Petty petty little brats is all they are.
Drain the damn swamp!!
Should be dismissed immediately. The RNC was in no position to repeal Obamacare. Only Congress could do that. This may be the dumbest lawsuit I have ever seen.
2016 Republican Platform:
Any honest agenda for improving healthcare must start with repeal of the dishonestly named Affordable Care Act of 2010...We agree with the four dissenting judges of the Supreme Court: In our view, the entire Act before us is invalid in its entirety. It must be removed and replaced with an approach based on genuine competition, patient choice, excellent care, wellness, and timely access to treatment. To that end, a Republican president, on the first day in office, will use legitimate waiver authority under the law to halt its advance and then, with the unanimous support of Congressional Republicans, will sign its repeal.

.... some GOP leaders raised millions of dollars in campaign funds while knowing they “weren’t going to be able to”
(in reality... WILL NOT OVERTURN) fhe ACA....
Yes, we need class action lawsuits, I will sign on!
The courts have overturned 2 of Trump’s executive orders because of what he said on the campaign trail. Then obviously the courts are willing to hold politicians accountable for what they say.
Let’s test that theory again, this time in the 9th circuit. Or at least use their ruling as precedence.
Like it’s really gonna happen...
Why do you say that. The petty brats promised one thing then did another. In business you would fire someone who did that and want your money back.
It's like if you hired a house painter to paint your house white but then he painted it bright pink. Should he be fired and should you get back any money you might have given up front for supplies? I think so. This is no different. In fact this is worse; the RINO's should have to give back double as a punishment.
I think it's a great idea and not frivolous at all. Even if he loses he has made the point loud and clear.
If, somehow, the Republicans who voted against ObamaCare repeal were suddenly replaced by clones of Ted Cruz, a different 3 R Senators would suddenly oppose repeal.
“Should be a class action law suit...”
Especially AZ, McTraitor lied flat out lied just to get revenge on Trump. Such a lawsuit is doomed but do it anyway don’t let the POS McTraitor breath and make no mistake the worthless RINO Flake was able to hide behind his yes vote as was heller for sure.
Good.

Posturing aside, I think about 20 Senators actually want OCare repealed.
....I understand the frustration but this is a thoroughly frivolous lawsuit if Ive ever seen one....
In the past, Courts have dismissed suits against car dealers who made exaggerated claims or promises about the car sold as labeling the salesman’s sales pitch as “Puffery.”
That’s the same kind of sales job Republican voters got too.
No wonder their job approval rating is a puny 11%.
Yeah, really. You give money to a politician you’d better be prepared to be sold-out and disappointed.
We should all join in on this.
We was robbed.
Is it in a position to withdraw all RNC support including voter lists from those who don't vote for their campaign issues?
The RNC is a criminal organization. I LOVE the lawsuit. Now, if only someone who donated to Collins, Murkowski, or McCain would sue them for fraud, we'd be getting somewhere.
1) Suing politicians for not keeping promises is idiotic. Lets sue Trump for not getting Mexico to pay for the Wall. Let's sue Trump because the Travel ban is blocked.
2) RNC doesn't pass laws.
3) The GOP didnt know how many seats they would end up in both Houses. They lost seats last year not increased them. Less seats means less ability to pass laws that Dems all vote against.
It will be tossed fast.
