Cold reality: Venezuela now a Russian puppet state
American Thinker ^ | August 4, 2017 | Monica Showalter

Investment banker Russ Dallen at Caracas Capital Markets points out a painfully obvious truth about Venezuela: it's no longer a sovereign state.  It's actually a Russian puppet state.

In a market note via email, he writes:

While the usual Venezuela cast of rogue acolytes – Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua – came out in support of the Maduro Regime after the fraudulent Constituent Assembly vote, from a geopolitical and economic point-of-view, there were only going to be two nations whose support really mattered: Russia and China.  And even after the revelation by Venezuela's voting machine software and hardware provider Smartmatic that Venezuela had misstated turnout by at least one million, both Russia and China came out in support of the Maduro regime.

While China has already invested and loaned $60 billion to Venezuela but has not been sending any new funds, early this morning, we got Russia's state controlled oil company financials for the second quarter (2Q2017), and they help us solve one of the puzzles we had been pondering in where Venezuela and PDVSA sourced funds to pay $3.7 billion in April and May.

As you know, Goldman Sachs and Nomura provided Venezuela with around $900 million by buying $2.9 billion of PDVSA 6% of 2022 bonds from Venezuela in May.  After advancing $2 billion to Venezuela in 2016, Rosneft's second quarter 2017 financials reveal that Rosneft advanced another $1.015 under the "PDVSA crude oil purchase contract" in April.

So in other words, Russia has been paying Venezuela's bills all along.

Venezuela is a brutal dictatorship and Russian puppet state.

This is almost the same as Cuba.

I’m skeptical. It’s been stated for awhile now that the globalists have wanted to destroy Venezuela and now that it’s happened, it seem logical to blame it on Russia.

I need more proof than a banker’s word for it.

Chavez and Maduro were not imposed by aliens on Venezuela. They come from the country, represent its political values, and for part of the time at least, were supported by Venezuelans.

As such, I do not care what happens to Venezuela. They chose destructive socialism, let them enjoy it, good and hard. Maybe after another 20 years of it, a new generation will arise that will go the opposite direction.

As for it being a Russian puppet state, I’m not buying it.

This viewpoint is nuts.

China is paying the big bucks to support Venezuela- over 10 times what Russia pays. And the article says so.
I’d bet China bankrolls that ‘Russian money’ too.

The media loves to hide China’s nefarious doings. The media has China made goods to advertise.

From what I have read, Cuba is the main offender there. Of course, Russia is not above making trouble for governments that make trouble for them or their allies, for example, governments that accuse them, without evidence, of election meddling.

Russia? The reports I’ve been reading indicate that Cuban troops are being used to keep order these days. What does Russia have to do with it?

I am not sure how many will buy this anymore, for far to long the American elitist types (career politicians, etc) have tried to blame their BS on others.

I need much more data before I agree that Russia, or anybody for that matter, had anything to do with Venezuela other than bad Venezuelan politicians. And to try and get into the economics of the situation would take far to much time.

There are bad economic deals where politicians fleece the people and there are bad policies where the people get out right screwed. Chavez and Maduro screwed Venezuela on their own.

Of course considering the educational levels of the average American citizen under 40 I would not be surprised if they do buy into the ‘Russia did it’ theory.

American politicians have perfected the ‘scape-goat’ concept. So now blame it on Russia because another socialist ideal has failed. Get it through your heads, read the book ‘Socialism’ by Ludwig von Mises;
SOCIALISM (CENTRAL CONTROL) ALWAYS FAILS

...considering the educational levels of the average American citizen under 40

Stupid burns rather well! I am almost a decade above 40 and the difference is sharp of those younger. I laugh daily from the news, politicians and common people who are quite frankly mentally retarded. It has basically come down to just taking a ride on a sinking ship wishing upon hope.

Chavez did win his first election. It is doubtful he won the second election due to massive fraud. Maduro has not one any election due to fraud.
