National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster has fired three staff members in recent weeks. The three are Ezra Cohen-Watnick, senior director for intelligence; Derek Harvey, the NSC’s top Middle East adviser; and Rich Higgins, director for strategic planning. All three were aligned with Steve Bannon.

Neither the Standard nor the Times reports on any ideological content to purge. Both treat it as a power struggle between McMaster and Steve Bannon, with the Times throwing in a Michael Flynn angle.
Is there an ideological component to the purge? There appears to be.

Why do we even have the National Security Council (NSC) and a National Security Advisor? We already have a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which is another layer over the FBI and the CIA and we also have the hideous National Security Agency.
So to protect this mostly unconstitutional federal government we have

How much freaking “security” does this mostly unconstitutional and paranoid federal government need? It’s beginning to look like a Nazi regime.
The constitutional job of the federal government is to protect the freedom of American citizens which is constitutionally assigned basically to the military and the CIA for external threats, and the FBI and the courts for internal wrongdoing. But instead, this bloated, mostly unconstitutional federal government is now structured to protect itself by the control and coercion of American citizens.
ENOUGH!!!! DRAIN THIS DEEP STATE SWAMP OF THESE PEOPLE LIKE McMASTER AND DEPARTMENTS THAT REPRESENT THE UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE $4 TRILLION FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
Probably depends on what day it is and who you ask. But in general, the deep state/establishment is still running the show.
Bush is responsible for DHS. Idiot.
It needs to completely die.
DEA and ATFE need to be shut down and rolled into FBI (who are not a bunch of cowboys).
NSA does electronic intelligence gathering (not operational stuff like you see in movies). It is a vital mission but intel gathering on US citizens must be strictly controlled.
The CIA needs a house cleaning but otherwise the handcuffs should be taken off and they should be allowed to do their jobs.
NSC - is needed by the President as a group of security advisors who can give him counsel and information, in real time, as required.
Get some da*m beat cops up in the NSC and have Bolton tutor them from 2-5PM every day.
Oh - and McMaster was outed on this forum by many as a terrible pick from day one.
McMaster's country is America, not Israel or Saudi Arabia. A strong argument can be made that American interests are best served by avoiding conflict with and endless provocation of Iran in the service of our Middle East allies.
Bolton would do a much much better job than this guy. There must be several thousand people who would do better From the reports we get, djt needs to replace this guy asap.
I would actually argue that it’s Iran that’s provoking us and backing a jihadi war against the West and the US in particular.

When has Iranians ever flown airplanes into American buildings? And all the terrorist attacks in the West from the Tsarnev brothers to San Bernardino and Paris are ISIS and al-Qaeda inspired, not Iranian or Shiite.

Too much redundancy to protect the tyranny of the the mostly unconstitutional federal government who has forgotten their raison d’etre is to protect the freedom of Americans, not themselves.
- Nuke the useless, wasteful, stupid, and dangerously clumsy DHA
- Nuke the unconstitutional DEA and ATFE. Those are constitutionally states’ issues.
- Fold in and then cut back NSA functions under the CIA where it belongs
- Fold in the NSC functions under the CIA where it belongs
Surgically remove all paranoid-driven functions and pare down to streamlined, legitimate functions that assist in the constitutional protection of Americans’ freedom from threats from without and within the U.S.
Trump’s announment tonight is that the governor of WV is changing parties to become a pubbie, don’t know what the hell difference it makes both parties are EXACTLY the same!!!
