Let’s eat, Grandma.

Let’s eat Grandma.

See, proper punctuation saves lives.

Correct grammar enables readers to understand the ideas without effort. Poor grammar makes it difficult for the reader to grasp the meaning, and may cause the reader to abandon reading a piece completely. When I have to stop and reread a sentence a couple of times because it can be interpreted two or three ways, it is poorly written.

Whenever I publish something professionally, I have an editor and at least a couple of other people read it to make sure it is clear and concise before it gets published. It seems the author of this piece didn’t bother with an editor.

“See, proper punctuation saves lives.”

This is an old one that was around 60 years ago———punctuate the following to make an understandable sentence——the words stay in the same order.

It was and I said not but.
