The leaders of the two countries have been holding regular secret meetings in a bit to improve relations and work together.
One political expert said the two countries were putting the European Union (EU) on the spot by working towards their own power hub - with Brussels unable to do much about it.
Hungarian-Polish political scientist Dominik Hejj said: The relations are very strong, and almost every week a Polish minister visits Hungary and vice versa.

Britain is going, a rival power center emerges in the East. Italy has deployed it's naval forces to frustrate EU-based NGOs engaged in human trafficking.

LOL! The EU was supposed to be the answer to world peace. Instead of uniting Europe, it has fractured it and a new polarization threatens to erupt into conflict because of its overwhelming arrogance, autocracy, and elitism.
The irony ... it burns.

They could always go with Eastern Bloc.

(European politics is a ‘hostage’ to domestic policy.)
Another way of saying it, is that the national governments of Poland and Hungary still listen to their citizens, while the unelected officials of the EU don’t have to!

Eastern Europe is the last hope for Western Civilization in Europe. If Poland and Hungary can get their act together, that's one heck of a powerhouse, a third way that's a buffer between the EU and Russia. I wonder if Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Romania (any others?) would be more happy in that coalition than being slaves to the EU global power-hungry elitists.

Yes-- Poles and Hungarians have a long history together. There was a story last summer about a monument erected in Poland to a Hungarian unit that fought with the Poles at the end of WWI to boot the Germans out. Hungarians also volunteered to fight with the Poles in their 1863 revolt, even though they were nominally one of the ruling parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Perhaps Pilsudski's dream of "Międzymorze" may finally come true.Heh. You know Hitler held a state funeral for Pilsudski? Much to the consternation of the top Nazi's, Hitler held Pilsudski in very high regard, probably because he was a "fighting" general and because he treated Hitler as an old Kamerad from the trenches, unlike the Junkers who looked down their noses at the Austrian corporal.
If Pilsudski had lived, I'm fairly certain that Poland would have entered the war as an ally of Germany's like Hungary. And like the Horthy government in Hungary, he would not have allowed the Germans to touch Poland's Jews.
Given their hatred of the Russians, a Polish army trained and equipped by the Germans would have been a powerful ally.

Our son is returning from playing a festival in Prague. Included in the performers list were two groups from Israel. Made me happy.

Everybody has an opinion I guess, but they aren't all equally valid.
Germany wanted land from Poland and Czechoslovakia, so they weren't going to make the same kind of deals they did with Hungary and Romania.
Nor would Poland have been likely to throw in with Germany after centuries of conflict.
