The United States conducted test of THAAD anti-ballistic missile defense unit in Alaska, the NBC television channel said on Sunday referring to military officials, Interfax reports.

"The anti-missile defense agency and the 11th anti-aircraft artillery brigade from Fort Bliss (Texas) conducted a successful missile test using the THAAD system," the MDA said in a statement.

It is noted that the launch of a ballistic missile was made by one of the US Air Force aircrafts, it was intercepted by the ABM system. At the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), the test was called "successful."

As reported, South Korea is deploying 4 additional subdivisions of the US THAAD missile defense system in response to the launch of missile by DPRK.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of South Korea reported that the US military in response to a North Korean ballistic missile test will transfer strategically important weapons systems to South Korea.

The Department of Defense has released video showing the U.S. military's successful test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD).

The U.S. tested THAAD off the Alaskan coast on Sunday, two days after North Korea successfully fired an intercontinental ballistic missile with a range long enough to hit America's mainland.

Though the timing made it seem reactionary, the THAAD test had been planned months ahead.

There is an island of of the east coast of South Korea that is about 250 miles from the nearest NK shore. I am thinking that putting a THAAD unit on that island might be a good idea. It would help protect Japan, Hawaii and Alaska. Of course, having THAAD units in SK would help as well.

Lockheed now has a 60kw laser system that is soon to be turned over to the Army. Perhaps a few of those around Seoul? Later a few more on mobile systems near the DMZ and a couple on ships?

Last I heard, the President of SK was busy virtue signaling by telling his people and the world that SK has no need for American anti-missile weapons systems and that those systems were not welcome on SK soil. Did that change?

I've been saying (for the last twenty years) that the day would come when Americans would be begging for RWR's "star wars" system, and demanding explanations for why it wasn't fully implemented and deployed.

It’s the 11th ADA Brigade, Air Defense Artillery. Anti Aircraft Artillery hasn’t been used in the Army in 50 years.

Thaad can’t handle the speed of an IBM though.

But can it handle the speed of an Apple? :0)

Shoot the “IBM” during the boost phase, while it’s still relatively slow (and an excellent target for heat-seekers), and it’s a lot easier.
