BMI is nonsense...
According to BMI, I should be 162 pounds...
I am heavly muscled and big boned...
Even when I in prime shape, very little fat, I was about 210 lbs...
I’m pretty sure 162 lbs It would have made me sickly...
[BMI is nonsense...]
When I was 31 at 6’ 2” I weighed 195 and looked like a strong wind would blow me away. According to BMI, I was “overweight” (25). My waist was 33”.
Exactly. Most legitamate BMI tables state explicitly that the chart is only accurate for average muscle and bone strucutre. It usually stipulates that big bones and/or heavy muscle queers the chart.
I know, I am about six four barefoot and weigh 240. According to those charts I am 52 pounds overweight! I wear size 36 waist pants and 2XL shirts. I am 73 and most males who are young enough to be my grandson wish they could look as good from the neck down as I do. I am so fat that when I move my fingers you can see every muscle in the forearm ripple. I go to the gym three times a week and work an average of 27 hours a week at a job that has me on my feet a lot outside. If I tried to drop down to what the chart says I should weigh my wife would go hysterical on me. At that weight I would need suspenders to hold my pants up because a belt would not work. I may drop to 225 pounds but I don’t anticipate going lower than that.
Those charts have always been a bit iffy but my brother-in-law claims that at 5’9” and 250 lbs. that he’s just heavily muscled and big boned. I just consider him fat.
BMI is BS. George W. Bush was very fit but fat according to his BMI.

Hey, I’m in shape!
Round is a shape........snickering
The tables say I should be about 180. I passed that weight in 7th grade. I am within 20 pounds of my high school graduation weight, 30+ years later.
The tables are calibrated for a small, thin frame.
I’m 5’, weight 127, 67 yrs, that is less than I weighed in HS. At Government’s BMI I am over weight by 15 lbs, no one take my muscle mass which is heavy into account, or genetics, Most of my Grandmother’s side is built like I am as we have native American blood lines, well diluted, but not the genetics. At 115 I’d bee sick all the time as it would compromise an already compromised immune system. Many of the meds they have tried cause hard to use rapid weight gains. I pitch those for side effects.
