You don’t want to be around when that boat launches a missile!

The real news here is that CNN took a 5 minute break from Trump trashing.

Doing damage to America without retaliation is in the interest of Russia and China. China has a greater interest in our not collapsing to the point of not being their best customer.

So far U.S. is more afraid of negative fallout from economic sanction on China than China itself, even though the damage would be greater on China's side. China know this. It will continue to push envelope until it really face a brick wall.

I’m fine with the idea of no wars as long as we’re all up front about the kind of reality a nuclear NK ushers in: Seoul, Tokyo or any US city exists at this madman’s whim.

The problem with crazy, one-man dictatorships is that they literally have nothing to lose. He’s killed off all his family members he considered a threat, often quite brutally. Even the mullahs don’t seem as reckless as this guy, probably because their domestic grip on power isn’t as tenuous as this guy’s. He’d have no problem nuking a major city if he knew he was about to be overthrown/killed.

With the USA out of the way, both China and Russia could take enough territory outside their present borders to make up for any loss of business with the USA.

That’s a weird looking thing

Yes, and the craft is rather odd as well.

The outcome would not be in doubt. I’m not in any way a military expert, but I imagine the highly populated countries close to NK really need to plan with us if there is any action taken. It’s such mistake to have let them go on so long.

plenty of countries test and have long range missiles

...and are run by madmen who constantly threaten to attack America with them.

Oh, wait. There's the difference.

Yep, nothing to see here folks.

You see, everyone, here's the rub: North Korea is a nuclear threat, but the evil "neocons" also say that North Korea is a nuclear threat.

And nobody in their right mind would ever agree with anything that a "neocon" says about North Korea.

If "neocons" think that the earth is round and revolves around the Sun, then vooch sez that simply can't be: the earth must therefore be flat, and the Sun revolves around it. Because "neocons"!

Similarly, I heard that there was a "neocon" who once stated his belief that men—American men, mind you—actually landed on the moon, walked around on it, and then came back to earth!

Well, obviously the moon shot was faked, then, because "neocons" believe that it wasn't. Got it?

"Neocons" don't even rise to the level of broken clocks. They can never be right even once per day.

So if the dreaded "neocons" say that North Korea is a bona fide threat, any thinking individual must immediately and summarily reject that outlandish notion, because "neocons"!

Or, alternately, everyone could disregard what both vooch and the "neocons" think, evaluate the situation in North Korea on its own objective merits, and draw an informed conclusion—based on logic and evidence—as to whether this murderous communist regime—ruled by a certified lunatic, and armed with nuclear bombs and the means to deliver them to the US mainland—might possibly represent a threat to the United States.

Yep. We could do the above—thoughtful analysis of the North Korean nuclear threat, based on crazy stuff like facts and intelligence gathering—or, disregarding objective reality, we could instead do vooch's knee-jerk "nothing to see here, move along, you're a bunch of chicken littles" thingie—because "neocons"!

The North Korean nuclear program does not have, and will not have, the ability to put the US “out of the way”. That is an absurd exaggeration.

They have tested a low-yield fission weapon. They have not demonstrated the ability to fabricate a warhead containing such a weapon, but suppose they did that, and suppose further that they could produce one or two warheads like that, and suppose further they could mate them to two functioning ICBMs, and then suppose further they launched those ICBMs at the US,

Now, suppose even further that those ICBMs had inertial guidance to land within ten miles of their aim points and suppose they landed in downtown San Francisco and Los Angeles. Suppose further that these so-far nonexistent warheads detonated after their suborbital journeys.

What would happen to the US? What would happen to North Korea?

You people are talking about this extremely improbable event as if it were a Soviet thermonuclear first strike with thousands of missiles bearing tens of thousands of high-yield hydrogen weapons, hitting hundreds of cities and all military and industrial targets of value. THAT I was very worried about- I still do worry about it, frankly.

But THIS? Having Kim write his suicide note by making a short term mess in a few places? THAT would “get the US out of the way”?

It’s absurd even to write it down.
