A pardon doesn’t remove the taint of guilt, it doesn’t reverse the conviction.

Note also he asked for but was DENIED a trial by jury.
Note also his criminal charge is because an Obama appointee judge demanded he stopped arresting immigrants who both were committing state and federal laws.

How does someone get denied a trial by jury?
Article III, Section 2 states: “The trial of all crimes shall be by jury and such trial shall be held in the state where the said crimes have been committed.”
6th Amendment says:“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury of the state where the said crimes shall have been committed.”

why did he lose the election?
1) Obama hated him as you can imagine.
2) He stood alone against illegal immigration until Trump came.
3) McCain rules here against the will of decent people.
4) He is 85yr old and his wife has cancer.
5) The judges went after him.
6) Locals took him for granted.

So he should be jailed for following the actual law and those protecting and encouraging illegal invaders should just carry on. We are supposed to be a nation of laws. End of the Republic. Trump, DOJ needs to start arresting these mayors of sanctuary cities.
I think that in some cases an accused can *opt* for a "bench trial".Assuming that was possible in this case his lawyer probably advised him to do so.
