There are rumblings Attorney General Sessions will take a lateral move
We received word on this at Gateway Pundit earlier today.
“ As hot Beltway rumors go, this one is extra spicy, but doesn’t appear to have very much meat on the bone. It started with an anonymously sourced story from Politico which claimed “department staffers” were suggesting that Jeff Sessions might be moved over from the Attorney General slot to replace departing General John Kelly at Homeland Security. Given all the scrutiny Sessions has been under, paired with conservative pushback against the idea of his being fired, it’s easy to see how this might look tempting to President Trump… at least in theory. Fox News runs down the potential scenario which could play out.

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) expressed his disapproval over the idea that Sessions may move to the DHS in a series of tweets. In his first tweet he said, “AG Jeff Sessions has a good ring to it. Highly qualified, committed to the rule of law, tough on crime, and fiercely independent.”

Has anyone asked Sessions? My understanding is that the Attorney General was the only cabinet post he was interested in. That’s where his interest and the issue he’s most interested in lie. Why would he want DHS?

Bad move......that would make R Rosenstien acting head until congress confirmed a replacement nominee and they would hold it up............Rosenstein was the Ast AG who put Mueller in so I feel he is playing for the other team!
If someone new becomes AG, does that make the recusal null and void. So the new person could pursue a parallel track Russia to counter Mueller? Or else, Trump could say “thanks, Mueller, but the AG will take over the Russia investigation from here.”

IF the two lateral moves are possible, it strikes me that this would be a brilliant way to get rid of Priebus—and get the GOPe backed into a corner where they can’t complain (or apparently vote) against the Sessions move.

Not sure if Sessions has the intestinal fortitude for the AG job. He would be better off at DHS.
When Leon Panetta went from CIA dorector to Sec Def he had to be confirmed again.
Your assumption about no confirmatoon is not correct. Every appointee to the cabinet must have a confirmation hearing. The process can be quick because the vetting is done. But I am pretty sure they have to go through the motions.
Still don’t like it. Don’t like it one danged bit. Our state is not going to forget how our best Senator was taken from us to help out the president in his cabinet and then he is treated like crap. Trump barely won the WH. Losing Alabama’s electoral votes next election could cost him reelection. This state will not forget how one of our VERY BEST Senators, one of the MOST conservative Senators in history is treated. Senator Jeff Sessions is an honorable and fine Christian gentleman. We ain’t going to forget this crap. Not one bit. I have heard nothing but “mad” about how Senator Sessions has been treated. So freaking what!! He did not do something the way a bunch of you people like? Maybe they will pee on your best Senator and Congress critters toes and your state and let you think about it. Alabama will not forget this, not the coming congressional elections nor the next presidential election.

Tell Sessions that Energy, EPA, and Interior will be eliminated, er, sublimated, into DHS during his tenure; and that there's a Medal of Freedom in it for him when he retires after the successful elimination, er, conclusion, of the three other Cabinet Departments.
