Little Rock police have identified the victim in Friday's homicide as 31-year-old Carlo Marigliano.

According to the victim's family, Marigliano, was visiting Little Rock from Italy and spoke limited English and was traveling with an Italian tour group when he decided to break away and explore the city alone.

The victim’s family tells KATV they are flying in from Italy and the Italian Consulate is getting involved in the investigation.

Fifty years ago, when I lived there, downtown Little Rock was a fairly safe place at night. There were certain bad areas you stayed away from Like around the airport and College Station and North Little Rock was very dangerous. One of my friends was robbed there, by two WHITE guys!
I’ve been back once since 1970. Never had a desire to go there again.

Reminds me of the time when my family and me as a kid were driving to Florida and we stopped at a diner in Memphis or on the outskirts of. It was on a Sunday afternoon or early evening and everything but the diner was closed. After eating, my parents decided we should walk around main street and look in the shop windows. Dumb, I know. We soon realized we were being stalked by a gang of young ferals. Fast thinking got us out of it.

What can I say. It is reported that there are at least 70 vacancies at the PD. That may be a factor also. And year we seen to be on track for about 75 murders this year. But let me say that most of those murders are gang related and in a certain geographical location. Absent that the murder rate would be much lower.

Oh if I had a nickle for every time I have heard that story. It never ends well.

I think it has to do with the kind of person who wants to see the "real city" and, of course, they always head to the red light district.

I think they’re intentionally leaving the Clintons out of this - though there is a “Bubba” - don’t know if it’s supposed to be Bill. Hope to see this one (that is rare, rare for me).

Lived in Little rock in the early 70’s. The rough part of town back then was east of the downtown freeway. no red markers there on that current map.

My point was... in 50 years nothing will have changed. Just the name of the street.
