Costs of green electricity driving Aussies off the grid and into poverty

When greenies get their way, poor people suffer. Global warming hysteria tends to be an affliction of the affluent, who don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from or how they will keep the lights on at night. But for those lacking the leisure to hypothesize a crisis that keeps getting stuck on pause, the costs of green energy can wreck lives.

It is happening in Australia, in the State of Queensland, ironcally rich in coal deposits:

The Sunday Mail of Brisbane explains in an editorial:

TODAY’S confronting revelation that more than 464 Queenslanders a week are having their electricity disconnected because of soaring power prices is a wake-up call to the Labor Party. (snip)

Labor’s zealotry on renewable energy targets is sending the country broke. (snip)

Well I'm sorry for the customers plight but can't help but chuckle at the pols down under who shoved this down people's throats. "No coal for you!" Course we may not be chuckling long if the ecowankers have their way here.

That's a feature, not a bug.

“Global warming hysteria tends to be an affliction of the affluent”

The same idiots that are trying to ban gasoline powered vehicles. Not a brain among them realizes that to produce all the electricity that would be required would create far MORE pollution that petroleum based vehicles do!

Grinding people into poverty and non-existence. That’s what it is supposed to do. Only the minions at the UN are permitted luxury...of course, the ilk like Al Gore gets to be a god too.

They’re still too European in their thinking. They’ve lost that fierce independence.

Wait until China jacks up the prices on the rare elements needed for these gasless wonders.

Even though they’re having their power disconnected they still have to pay a connection fee. The only way is to have their meter removed which I guess they do.

Libs never consider the unintended or unforeseen consequences of their grand schemes. Then, years later, they do the 'ut oh, that didn't work out as planned'.

Some 30 years ago, it was "paper or plastic?" Now, many cities are banning plastic bags -- or taxing them out of existence.

LOL! Yeah, I thought (?) I saw that GB wants to have no more petrol fueled vehicles by 2040. Or at least sell anymore after that date. Go windmills.

Don’t chuckle at them. The pols could not be happier. This is the entire goal of the green energy scam. Poor disarmed people are easier to rule over.

Add this to the long list of how we dodged a bullet when Trump beat Hillary.

ZERO KOOL AID here. If you have the available space and means to power your home with a solar array, more power to you. So to speak. I have a YUGE open chunk on the south side of the house but the cost of installing and converting would no doubt exceed my remaining years to recover the investment. National dependence on “natural means” is, to me, not doable ‘currently’. So to speak.

I have ZERO problems with individuals & companies doing solar/wind power if they do it on their OWN dime. The problem arises when governments subsidize and/or require such investments. That causes a massive malallocation of resources, hugely increased costs and lower standards of living.

The next step will be govt payments to help with the high green energy bills.

Now everyone is dependent on govt to survive.

I am not sure of the time line but there have been many articles about smaller safer nuclear power plants. As I recall several good articles and discussion threads about the new types of reactions appeared on FR.
