I Now See Voting Republican Is A Waste Of Time
Hotair ^ | July 29,2017 | J.D. DAVIDSON

There is a grave danger for Republicans in all of this. If there’s one thing the 2016 presidential election should have taught the GOP establishment, it’s that Americans are disgusted with politics as usual – the showboating, the sloganeering, the canned talking points and the pervasive, poisonous insincerity of it all.

That’s why Republican primary voters rejected, one by one, a field of presidential candidates full of experienced politicians. GOP voters were told their 2016 candidates were diverse and accomplished – and indeed they were. But they all had one thing in common: they were politicians, and Americans were fed up with politicians and politics as usual. So fed up, in fact, they did something drastic, maybe even reckless. They elected Donald Trump president.

Now that the politicians have failed them yet again, and in such spectacular fashion, conservatives might conclude, with good reason, that there’s no point voting for Republicans because they don’t deliver on their promises once in power. They might conclude that Republicans, having failed to take seriously the discontent of ordinary Americans, don’t deserve to govern after all.

A perfect literary quote for the article.

Interesting. Can you show me the repeal and replace in that bill? They are no where near 49 votes for “repeal and replace.”

49 GOP votes to repeal and replace. 3 no. Do you think you would do better with the Dems?

They just chose the 3 that would 'take one for the team' instead of the others who would have voted against it, if it came down to them.

I am so done voting straight Republican. There’s no way I can vote for a party with a past and present strain of evil like the Democrats, but I will vote Republicans by candidate next go-around, and not vote if I don’t like the Pub that’s running.

That puts me in a dilemma here in North Carolina, where we have Tillis and Burr...

Good post yours (#6). I have mentioned this before: Do not do what your opponent wants you to do.

The Democrats would love for us to pout, and stay home. And they would love for us to chase after a third party, and so split the conservative vote (the Ross Perot effect).

So we should do neither. We should stay and fight for the soul of the Republican party, as difficult as that may be.

All but 3 Republicans wanted to repeal Obamacare. You can’t blame all the Republicans. Only the 3 that did this.

The 3 Republicans that voted no need to be immediately recalled. If we can do that, then they need to be Primaried. Finally if that fails, then cross over and vote for their number one opponent.

The 3 are already Democrats with “Rs” by their name to keep conservatives in check.

I would have to agree. With respect to the health care fiasco, the rino establishment wants to subsidize insurance companies so that they can exert control and extract favors from health care companies. The demoncrats want direct control over health care via single payer so that they can appoint the equivalent of health care commissars.
One system is fascist, the other communist/socialist. Both equally bad approaches that lead to rationing, corruption, and waste.
Some republicans want free market, but they are the minority.
As for the public, there are are those that pull the wagon and want free market, and then there are those that are ensnared and enslaved by the welfare state.
The health care debate clearly demonstrates the two ideological approaches to all current policy. Rino fascism vs demoncrat communism. The two faces of tyranny.

Yes, we can’t let the Democrats back into power, no how frustrated we are with the GOP.

Except reports are, Heller skipped and hedged his vote until McCain killed the bill then voted for it. He had no intention of voting for that bill, and neither did at least half a dozen other rinos. McCain took one for the team so the rinos stand a better chance at reelection.

If Kelly Ayotte had not shot herself in the foot so many times and snatched defeat from the jaw of victory (she held very solid leads most of the race in the polls but then ran a very pitiful campaign in the closing months) this may not have occurred. It is difficult to believe the net loss of just that one seat could cause all of this, but it did (although if Kirk had won in Illinois there would have been no difference in outcome - he likely would have joined the 3).

But in any event, the frustration of the article is well taken...the sad thing is...is that the only thing to shut up the narratives of the left is for the Republicans to win in 2018. The left’s enthusiasm was dampened by loss after loss after loss in the special elections. They are not swayed by facts or reality - they are only swayed by dejection.

“We have to get rid of the RINO’s.”

*******

They are not RINOs. They are the GOP Establishment.

The party left us. To call them Republicans In Name Only is inaccurate. They embody the Rockefeller wing that has controlled the party for many decades with the exception of Reagan’s presidency.

We don’t need a third party.

We’ve got two distinct parties now.

We’ve got TRUMP...and we have the government!

Hot Air is exactly the correct description for this drival.

A handful of Republicans throw a monkey wrench into things and you idiots act as though it was the whole Republican party.

Anyone with a functioning brain can tell you that these have to be replaced but the vast majority is going along with the Trump agenda.

Do you fools think that Susan Collins is indicative of the whole GOP? Or Lindsey Graham? How stupid do you have to be to think McCain is representative of the Party?

The only way left for Republicans to regain the trust of their base is for the rank-and-file in Congress to oust their leadership.

Benching McConnell and Ryan would be a sign of good faith that the party regulars are ready to take it back for the voters.
