SNOPES is not only not credible, they are on the precipice of doom right now. Seems that the guy in charge has been living it up with company funds.

Explain for us all any context in which delivering the foundational component of nuclear weapon construction to Russia wouldn’t be a problem.

Makes for a good cover story. Hillary started getting cash for uranium in that exact same time frame.

10 grams is about 1/3 of an ounce. A small sample. It was delivered to Russia as a law enforcement exchange to allow them to verify where it came from. They were disputing it origins were in Russia. A simple exchange of evidence between one law enforcement to another.

Get real people and stop looking for boogeymen under the bed. There are plenty in plain sight.

My question: of all the bagmen available, why Robert Mueller?

Was that Wikileaks?

Hannity said Wikileaks has always been accurate.

this BS has been posted on FR about a thousand damn times now.

Mueller was taking a 5 gram sample to Russia as part of a joint effort to track down, identify, and recover a much larger lot of uranium stolen from Russia.

The Snopes divorce story really has nothing to do with whether the Snopes claim was true or not that Robert Mueller was delivering to the Russian government a 10-g sample of HEU stolen by Georgians and confiscated by the US.

You think you have the answer. The could have anyone take the “sample”. The head of the FBI? Doesn’t pass any smell test. In fact, FBI Director would not actually do any work of that type. Putting a radioactive element in the plane would be enough to make me send the lowest subordinate available(and a Democrat also).

There was no urgency here. They missed a meeting many months before and were just getting around to this delivery. Why would the FBI Director be doing this unless it was a major photo op? This was secret. He should have been at his desk in DC

Point #2 of the linked cable gives the context of the sample:

2. (S/NF) Background: Over two years ago Russia requested a
ten-gram sample of highly enriched uranium (HEU) seized in
early 2006 in Georgia during a nuclear smuggling sting
operation involving one Russian national and several Georgian
accomplices. The seized HEU was transferred to U.S. custody
and is being held at a secure DOE facility. In response to
the Russian request, the Georgian Government authorized the
United States to share a sample of the material with the
Russians for forensic analysis. Director Mueller previously
planned to deliver the sample in April (Ref A), but due to a
scheduling conflict the trip was canceled. Embassy Moscow
LegAtt informed the FSB prior to Mueller’s intended April
delivery and received confirmation that the FSB would take
custody of the sample after the Director’s plane landed. EST
Moscow also informed Rosatom of the planned transfer and that
the U.S. placed a high priority on completing this transfer
(Ref B). Once the LegAtt told FSB counterparts the April
trip had
been canceled, Ambassador Beyrle informed Igor Neverov (Ref
C), who said that he understood but was disappointed the trip
was postponed. The September 21 visit provides again an
opportunity to deliver the requested ten-gram sample from the
seized HEU in order to obtain cooperation from the GOR on
this nuclear smuggling case and to eventually establish a
more productive mechanism of U.S.-Russian cooperation on
nuclear forensics.

How about the FACT that Snopes is a Left Wing Activist site. Does that enter into your calculus, or is it an inconvenient truth to be dismissed from your posts?
