Sessions only recused himself from the Russia investigation. If Meuller moves into other lanes, can’t Sessions pull him up?
I would think not, as Mueller can always make the claim that prior transactions with Russia are somehow relevant to the election charges.
It’s also hard to have any special prosecutor look into Fusion, as it is also “related” to the election. Sadly, we must depend on Congress to do this, which is another reason we cannot loose next Nov.
What Sessions could do is an investigation into the Clinton Foundation and her top secret e-mails. But, anything related to Russia is gone from Executive control.
Politically what Trump could do is tell Mueller not to go beyond events of 2015 that are election related, to include Fusion, and give him a time frame to conclude the “investigation” and see what Mueller does.
If republicans had any guts they would give him a date to present his evidence or cut the funds. Who controls the DOJ purse?
