President Donald Trump has been attacking his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, daily. There have been brutal attacks on Twitter, in media interviews, and during speeches. Conventional wisdom is that Trump is getting ready to fire Sessions or hoping Sessions resigns. Conventional wisdom also assured everyone that Hillary Clinton would win in a landslide, the only question being by how large a margin.
Trump's complaint is that his attorney general should not have recused himself from the Russia hacking hoax and that he is dragging his feet on long overdue investigations and prosecutions: Deep State leaks; unmasking; DNC and Clinton collusion with the Ukrainians; Hillary Clinton's reckless email management, including tens of thousands of missing emails; the Clinton Foundation Russian uranium deal; and all the mischief and criminality left over from the Obama administration, perpetuated to this day by the Deep State imbeds.
These are reasonable complaints. After all, Trump promised to drain the swamp. Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation is leaking like a sieve. Most of the daily news originates from Deep State leaks, much of it illegal but given a pass by the Justice Department.

What if this is all a show, and Sessions is in on it? The White House press secretary and communications director may be part of the act as well, publicly playing into the president's dissatisfaction with Sessions and suggesting that he will be canned "pouring gasoline on the Trump-Sessions fire," as the Washington Post described Sarah Huckabee Sanders's assessment.

I believed this in my gut before anything like this was written.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions Has Taken A VERY Weak Position On Hillary Clinton Crimes

pgkdan to RoosterRedux And considering Trump's penchant for manipulating the media, I would definitely think that, yes, there is another strategy at work here.

Here's a pleasant fantasy of mine. One day soon we wake up to the news that overnight there were numerous arrests of high profile political, media and entertainment persons. Charged with the federal crimes that we always hear about but never see acted upon by federal law enforcement. We hear that Bill and Hillary are targets of separate investigations. We hear about suicides by other high ranking people seeking to avoid the embarrassment of arrest and trial.
Then we learn that Sessions and a cadre of prosecutors and FBI agents have been putting this together since the day he was installed as AG and that the President has been poking Sessions so that the targets would think the justice Department was in disarray and they were free and clear. And then...BOOM the hammer drops.
Pure fantasy but it makes me feel good to think about it.

Maybe today!
If this were real I would think Sessions would have resigned or offered to.
I like your thinking.
That is what I think. I do not know what’s going on but I suspect it is not what it looks like.
Things are just as they appear to be. Jeff Sessions is NOT DOING HIS JOB and the Presidents entire agenda is being stalled by this. The president is telling his Attorney General do your job or your fired.
The theory is that DJT is bashing Sessions on the Russian thing as cover for a Sessions takedown of Hillary and Obama today. In theory two feuding officials Sessions would say he was not doing so at the behest of DJT and eliminate the Political Retaliation argument and Sessions was operating on the merit of the crime.
The only problem with this scenario was Monday, when DJT criticized Sessons for not persuing Hillary. That kind of blew this scenario out of the water.
I hope your fantasy comes true really soon~! :)
Many democrats are rallying behind Sessions, so if he goes after a democrat we’ll see their hypocrisy once again!
+1
I thinks so too....
Sorry. I don’t think they’re that smart. I think we give Trump way too much credit around here. My prediction, he will fire Sessions or the latter will resign.
No one is this Machiavellian. Sorry, not buying it.
It could be that the President enjoys and thrives on conflict?
Solution - Senators - don't put yourself in that position in the first place.
Trump is 6+ months in, and anyone who thinks his strategy team (Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, et al) has just been moping around about how awful the media is without any clue as to how to fight back hasn’t been paying attention.
The “fake” is found in every sport, and it always depends on doing something that your opponent expects you to do. The media is convinced that Trump is an incompetent bumbling idiot who no one would want to work for, so now we see Trump ridiculing the AG who has championed the same ideas long before Trump became a candidate. So you either believe the media narrative or you see the gamesmanship at work here, and how Trump is doing a giant head-fake (with a little trash talk thrown in for good measure).
It could be as simple as “Yes, I was disappointed with his recusal, but now after the AG has brought these indictments for leaking information that is very damaging to our country, of course I will keep him onboard”.
Meanwhile the Attorney General who was cast as the Grand Wizard of the KKK a few months ago has been receiving the sympathy and praise of the Senate and MSM.
That very well could be one of the purposes behind all this....
This is a way for Trump to authorize the line FBI and DOJ to proceed without internal orders that are jammed up by the deep state. It also give Sessons cover for cranking up the heat. The Trump has spoken.
