A lot of good economic news right now. I see the papers are downplaying it or not reporting it at all. Contrast the 8 years of the economy attached to the Obama anchor versus the economic renaissance starting under Trump.

As far as the indicator, all durable goods orders being positive is wonderful. Even if they are imported. It shows that capital is flowing in to projects that are long term investments for business activity. Doesn’t matter so much where we buy them from,as long as we are buying for the long haul.

It's important if you care about the USA. An increase in orders for imported durable goods help factories in foreign countries and the towns and people surrounding them prosper. For us it is net drain of wealth. Our biggest exports to China are empty shipping containers and T-bills.

Everyone hates China but with them, could we afford many of the products we need and enjoy?

Before my granddaughter was born (she’s two now), I thought it would be nice to buy her a crib made in America. I found a nice one online but it was $2,000. I found a really nice one with attached changing table and drawers for $320. It was made in China. No way on social security I can afford $2,000. So I am in the minority of those who appreciate China.

There is no difference in price. The Ford Focus will be made in China and shipped duty free to the USA. Ford did not reduce the sticker price one penny.

The American company went out of business. Probably because people couldn’t afford their furniture. I live in NC, which used to be the furniture capital of the world. No longer.
The crib has held up fine.

It’s even less now then when I bought it two years ago.
