Free Republic is beset by media’s ‘fake news’ and Trump’s ‘counter fake news’.

If Jeff Sessions AVOIDS investigating and prosecuting these individuals because he fears for his life, HE NEEDS TO GO ON NATIONAL TELEVISION AND FESS UP as to WHY he is doing NOTHING about the serious crimes committed by these individuals. Otherwise, HE NEEDS TO RESIGN NOW.

Yup. Spot on.

I thought that we had been told, belatedly, that every one in Congress KNEW that President Trump was not, in fact, under investigation. If he is not under investigation re:Russia, why would Sessions recuse himself? He had to know what the others in Congress knew. But there are the congress-folk, still going on about investigating Russia and Trump.

“Sessions offered his resignation months ago, and the president refused to accept it.”

Alberta, I’m not saying that that didn’t happen, but how do we know that it actually did? And as far as things are today, if it did happen, that was then, and now is now. And Trump has made it abundantly clear that he would like another AG. I guess what really bothers me is that in the Executive Branch, EVERYBODY there works FOR THE PRESIDENT, and yet we have people who work for him who fail to do what’s asked of them or openly challenge him via leaks. The time for being NICE is over, he needs to hire a dozen Scaramucci’s and give them explicit instructions as to what he wants done and have them get back to him weekly or more often if necessary with reports on their results. I am sure that’s how Trump ran his businesses, and its how the business of the country should be run as well.

“It was Rosenstein who panicked and appointed a special counsel, all of which would have died down in a few weeks.”

And who was he to do that without consulting the President? I simply can’t believe that Trump would have allowed Rosenstein to do it.

Davey, you’ve got your coonskin cap stuck up your duckhouse!

“Whether the leak is true or not about tillerson you know he has to be watching this behavior

I hope that trump realizes he is making a mistake with these bully tactics with a loyal supporter”

I agree with you on this. I think if Trump is gunning for Sessions, he should STOP being public about it - it puts the wrong sort of stress on the guys like Tillerson who ARE doing great work. While I feel Sessions made several wrong moves - Trump needs to work through this crap without spooking the other critical members of the team.

“He was only able to do that because Sessions recused himself and he wasted no time doing it too...How convenient. “

So both Sessions and Rosenstein f*cked the President, and they both need to be relieved of their jobs.

See my Post #39 on this thread.

The last time President Trump took it upon himself to serve as his own legal expert, he ended up with Robert Mueller. LOL.

It was Rosenstein who panicked and appointed a special counsel, all of which would have died down in a few weeks.

Rosenstein only had the authority to appoint a Special Counsel because Sessions recused himself. No recusal, no Special Counsel and MAYBE, just maybe, we'd be making a little progress on the President's agenda.

-- He put both Sessions and Rosenstein in a very compromised position, where there was an appearance that they were complicit in the firing of the FBI director under false pretenses. --

Only if one cherry picks statements made in the Holt interview, as the press does. Conventional wisdom about that interview is 180 degrees out of rig with what was actually said in that interview.

“The Attorney General works for US and is not President Trump’s private attorney.”

WRONG! The Attorney General is a Cabinet level Secretary in the Executive Branch, and serves at the pleasure of the President. So the while the work “he does” is for the country, but “he can do it” only so long as the President permits him to. None of any of this involves “being the President’s private attorney. the President has his own private attorney.

Timing.
schedule shows he had a meeting about it
wapo comes out with story he met with russians
he recused same day

I dont understand why people dont get this
think Watergate
if you see it starting to hit the fan you have to protect youself in dc
he knew he would be on hot seat..of course he has to recuse

Rudy says it was the right thing to do legally

But even if he didnt need to legally..he needed to knowing a Watergate situation might happen..remember..he cant know all that went on or how bad it is going to get

And this isnt just about trump.its also about flynn and manafort

I did not say the Attorney General does not serve at the pleasure of the president.. Law and order should be the pleasure of any president and that is exactly what AG Sessions did, followed the rule of law. None have a clue regarding all matters of the ‘rule of law’ AG Sessions is following. Congress, a republican controlled Branch of government, no less, has handcuffed ‘law and order’ since President Trump won in November.

Congress is the swamp.
