Obviously, someone from within leaked it to the press, and it caught Scaramucci off guard.
If you look at the bulk of post today, the vast majority include anonymous sources. You’d think that McMasters, Tillerson are all thinking of quitting. Sessions is about to be fired and of course, Mueller is going to go too.
Why not name your source?
Perhaps because the leaker would be fired and you'd no longer be able to get leaked information from them?
The source was Mooch speaking on the record according to the original article.

Or, rather I should say that he confirmed it on record. Which baffles me.
